Office Professional Pro 2016.......Outlook....
I set up a domain for a customer with HostGator.com....
I set up 2 email address and created passwords for each....
I can log into HostGatsor webmail no problem...

Trying to setup Outlook 2016 for one of these emails.......
I carefully entered all info correctly......but Outlook will NOT accept the password....

I spend about an hour on the phone with Host Gator tech support and they were not
able to resolve the issue.....

I feel the issue is with Outlook simply because I can log into Webmail......

Looking for suggestions and ideas......
I will answer any questions you may have as quickly as I can....
Many thanks
Steve

Your symptoms are consistent with your ISP requiring an app password in addition to the account password.
Your ISP might have already told you that is not required for all I know.

Best of luck,
Denis

Try 3.....THAT is a good idea......I would have thought the Host Gator support I spent about an hour with yesterday would have known that.....
Gonna dig into this

Your ISP has nothing to do with it in my opinion. It would be the Hosting setup, not your Internet Service Provider.

I can log into HostGatsor webmail no problem...

So you haven’t setup a Webhosting account anywhere, you’ve setup two email accounts (email hosting) at Hostgator?

You’ve followed these, or checked you completed everything?

Never used HostGator. I only know what I see on the Web.

This is an issue.......Turns out I discovered sometimes Outlook 2013 will NOT sync email accounts on HostGator.....There is a TLS bug that occasionally shows up.....and/or a corrupte credential cache and/or an Outlook profilel bug......usually fixed with a registry edit.... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity .create new Dword named EnableADAL with value of "0"......Tried it and didn't work.....maybe cleaning out some entries in Credential Manager ...Windows Credentials..... So iin me research these issues seem to apply to HostGator.....
And of course Host Gator denies this.......... so looks like I"m gonna transfer this domain to Network Solutions........Since HostGator tech support is in the Phillipines and there is some minor language issues.......I know Network Solutions....from past experience has better support help........
So.....that's it.......pulling the pluc on this issue and moving on....

Thanks everyone for you assistance and hlep...
Steve
