I want to set my default downloads folder to One-Drive Personal > Downloads

When I do this it shows as the following:

C:\Users\jjrei\OneDrive\Downloads

Is it saving to the C: drive?

I mean technically. It is saving in your OneDrive/Downloads folder which is located within your C drive. You could technically follow the path through file explorer.

I thought OneDrive is located in the Microsoft OneDrive cloud.

Yes, you are correct but, C:\users\username\OneDrive is where OneDrive keeps the files sync'd between the cloud and your computer.

Well..so technically it is saving to both my C: and One Drive?

Yep. Whatever you do in one, it will replicate to the other

I get the confusion. I have an SSD and did not want to wear it out. I am not certain but I believe I have a regular disk drive as well. How can I check whether I do or not?

Okay, that makes sense. Your SSD will be fine though 😀! They can take many terabytes of reads and writes with little to no issues.

Seems Microsoft is pushing us to use their cloud storage and product more. Soon we will need to buy more storage. I save both my OneDrive and also to my local machine. Having syncing issues since the latest WIN11 update.
