Even though the option to 'Show Network' is enabled it does not appear in File Explorer. My feeling is that it might be something to do with File Manager itself as all the network options to see what's on my network are setup correctly. Any thoughts on this?

For grins, use option 3 regedit method in that tutorial to remove network from navigation pane. Restart, then use option 3 regedit method in the tutorial to add network to navigation pane. Restart again and see if it makes a difference. Trying a little windows reverse psychology can't hurt and might help.

Option 3 didn't work after restarts. It doesn't matter if the reg entry is zero or one I can't get 'Network' to appear in the navigation pane. I wonder if the reg entry controls if you see 'Network' in File Manager or not. On your system does toggling the option 'Show Network' also toggle your reg entry? Might be another reg entry that needs to be set.

Did some more Google searching and came upon this Remove Network from Explorer Navigation Pane in Windows 11/10

The reg value I had was b0940064 which hides 'Network'. I changed it to b0040064 and rebooted. Network now appears in File Manager. However, if I use the 'Show Network' option in the context menu to turn it off it doesn't do squat. So some weirdness remains.
