Solved Size and Location for Task Manager, Control Panel, Settings

Are there any registry tweak to set "Size and Location" for "Task Manager", "Control Panel" and "Settings".

I forgot the key kombination to make windows remember position and size of a running program, it was SHIFT + close or CTRL + close something like that.

explorer.exe
regedit.exe
*that includes in windows 11 22h2

Usually, they will open to the same size and position as last closed by default.

This is new to me, but I just checked and it seems what I said in my previous post applies to previous versions of windows:

Ctrl or Shift + close button?

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.general (More info?) Is it true that holding down ctrl and/or shift + close button of a window is supposed to do something? Some said it has to do with remembering the size of the window.

It really wouldn't matter if there was though. It would always get changed to the last size, location, and position as last closed anyways.

For Task Manager, there appears to be a settings.json file at the following location which seems to contain some size/position data:
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TaskManager\settings.json

For Control Panel, Settings etc., I don't know.

Thanks das10. It is useful.
So Taskbar location settings are not in registry, It is in a json file.
I will check if I can use also for backup my Taskbar Settings.

The "Settings" size/position data might be stored at the following location; although it is in some kind of Hex format so it is difficult to investigate further at this point.

In my Registry, this data appears to change every time the Settings size/position is changed/restored .

I played around with that Registry Key and found that restoring its previous values would sometimes make the Settings window appear in the place defined by those values but not always.
Perhaps there is another factor in play???

You can use process monitor and enable monitoring registry only.
clear contents of Procmon and resize\reposition some window to see if that updates any registry values.

I have found that you can manipulate Control Panel window size and location here

You can backup all of your Task Manager Settings with this file include windows size and location
If you erase this file it changes to default windows settings to its back.

Bro sometimes i save registry key to a reg file then apply it with a cmd command.
Or
I use a tool from sordum.org named "Reg Converter" It convert reg files to bat file

Reg Converter v1.2

so hex format will not be a problem.
