A question for the knowledgeable peeps on here

I have the Sky Go app for Windows, it's an app from UK broadcaster Sky that allows live streaming of TV shows and also downloads of shows on the catch-up service

Long shot but does anyone know where downloaded shows are saved? According to my research they're in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Sky Go but I can't find them, even if I show protected system files

I know the files are encrypted and not saved as .mp4, what I want to do is move the save location to another drive using MKDIR /J command

I know downloads are going *somewhere* on C: because the free space goes down when I download something in the app.
I've tried creating a junction for the Sky Go folder but downloads are still saving to C: drive

Help appreciated!

Not trying to do anything dodgy - I have a full paid Sky subscription.

Hi there
@BrianInEngland

From A.I answer is :

Sky Go downloads are stored in
a hidden AppData folder on Windows, typically at C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\SKY GO. These files are encrypted and cannot be played outside the app. On Mac, they are found in ~/Library/Application Support/Sky Go. The download location cannot be changed within the Sky Go app.

I usually only use SKY GO for watching Live sport. You can save some SKY stuff if you run it in "Real time" and use a hardware capture device - it's very rare I need to store other SKY programs as I have a "Q box" where I can save programs for later viewing.

I'd imagine even if you move the files manually whether SKY GO would play them is another issue -- same thing if you were to move back any moved files to the C drive again. There's a sort of indexdb and the thing is riddled with so much DRM I suspect even a Quantum computer would have problems with those files.

Note -- if you have a Sky Q box the SKY GO app can connect to it and you can play recordings etc on the computer which seems a better way to do this. Don't get SKY GLASS as those TV's don't record. The latest SKY Q boxes can store up to 2 TB of programs which is quite a huge amount even at 4K UHD stuff.

I don't know if NOW TV (access to SKY programs via legitimate subscription) is capable of storing and recording programs -- if so that might be another way -- you'll need a recording device but NOW does have an advantage in that it doesn't need a satellite dish but uses the Internet for getting the programs.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I've looked in that folder and can't find them.
