Hi there
I notice while updating Office 2021 LTSC pro that SKYPE is still included - but does anybody still even THINK of bothering with it any more

Zoom and Ms Teams are so much better -- surely it would make more sense for Ms to integrate Ms teams into office rather than skype. (Ms teams is no problem to install manually but if you've got Ms Office -- surely !!!!! that's the place for it.

In the last 4 clients I've worked at nobody uses skype if that's any indication.

Cheers

I see Teams is included on yours -- Note though Office 2021 LTSC is not a std retail version - It's more "Enterprise" version and installed from Ms via work servers. Mine has Project (which I use quite a lot) and Visio (which I don't) included so perhaps that's why. Teams is easily "manually" installable -- a much better app and can be used by private individuals too.

(Works perfectly on Linux too -- at least on my distro !!)

Thanks, this reminded me to cancel my Skype number that would have been renewed in a couple of weeks.

After restart of computer the SKYPE app is now gone from office 2021LTSC pro and Teams is there instead. Project and Visio have their own apps

(I wonder how much money Ms wasted when buying Skype --unless they used thedevelopers to create Teams -- that app works quite nicely IMO.)

Never used Skype, Zoom, or Teams. When I do a new Windows install, Skype is one of the first things to go.

Skype is not listed in apps so it's just there in office 2016 pro plus guess I can see what the plus stands for plus skype can't be removed.

Yah, they seem to be pushing Teams hard. In my job we use it and it is an excellent business collaboration tool. For my personal machines, I don't really see the need for it. I already have too many chat apps......

Just yesterday morning while working with a client on a print issue the conversation mentioned some popups and Skype was one, I just disabled it as he said it wasn't used. By not uninstalling other things don't get messed with and Version Upgrades or Build updates to those shouldn't bother and will still be available if needed.

Hi there
I notice while updating Office 2021 LTSC pro that SKYPE is still included - but does anybody still even THINK of bothering with it any more

Cheers
jimbo
As you say, it's LTSC and Enterprise version - I bet that is Skype for Business, versus just regular Skype. SfB is still in use at a lot of enterprises that went all in on it and haven't bothered to move on.

Per Do I have Skype or Skype for Business?
If you're not sure if you’re using Skype or Skype for Business, look under Help > About. It will show either Skype or Skype for Business.

Even if it is not SfB, though, since it is that LTSC version, the Office Customization tool should be particularly handy for you to use.
