Small Icons Option Disappeared

Brand New Lenovo Slim 3 Laptop:
Setup Saturday Morning, Sunday afternoon the icons had changed from Small to Medium in size.
(I'd initially set this through Personalization > Taskbar > Behaviours)

Upon checking the above there is no longer an option for Small Icons

Additionally, I've checked in regedit and dword values
• IconSizePreference
• TaskbarSi
• Taskbar Small Icons
are all set to "0"

Is there any way to get my small taskbar icons back?

Not in the actual (non-dev/non-insider) versions of Windows 11.
Which one are you using? Please type winver in an 'run' window.
Mine is Windows 11 Pro 24H2 26100.4652.

In future the small taskbar icons will be back again, it already seems to be like that in the last insider version, but I don't use that.

Otherwise you would need some third-party app to change it:
- Windhawk (free but rather complicated in use)
- ExplorerPatcher (free)
- StartAllBack (you'll have to pay a small amount if you want to keep using it after about 30 days, test possible without registration)
- Start11 (you'll have to pay a small amount if you want to keep using it after about 30 days, test period only possible with registration)

Go to settings -> personlization -> taskbar -> taskbar behaviour and there should be an option there to choose small icons. I'm on release preview version so I'm not sure if it's on the non-insider version yet.

as I said in my original post: that option has disappeared!

Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5059093)
weird thing is, it was definitely there between Saturday (initial setup) and part of Sunday. By Sunday afternoon it was gone

my own laptop:
version : 24H2
build 26100.4652

has definitely disabled smaller icons sometime during Sunday (pm) - they were still there all day Saturday (following initial setup) and into Sunday.

I never use any preview updates, so I would have to wait until the normal update of August, that will come tomorrow.
But I am not in a hurry, because I use Windhawk to style my taskbar just as I like and don't need to do it via Windows options.
But it's good to hear the smaller taskbars icons are (finally) back!

I hardly can imagine you have seen smaller icons on your version, because all the time windows 11 existed, this was not possible (not without third-party tweaks).

But tomorrow is the date for the new August update, in which it should be included (see the message of @gunrunnerjohn in #8), so better wait for that!

I don't have any preview updates, all the updates to my systems are through the normal public release update process.

In that case I can't explain why you have Windows 11 Pro, build: 26100.4770 and mine still is Windows 11 Pro 26100.4652.
Perhaps there is a difference between Europe and USA...

Never mind, after tomorrow there won't be any difference anymore, as I expect.
Unless (like in my system) updates are postponed some weeks, to avoid unexpected problems.
But that's a decision I have taken on purpose.

Now I did set the preview update on my VirtualBox testsystem and indeed, small icons are possible.
But I am dissapointed that the hight of the taskbar still is like it was in medium icons, that just that was what I did not like from the beginning of Windows 11 on.

Yep, I was disappointed that the taskbar is still wider, they just leave the space above them blank on the taskbar. :rolleyes: I guess Microsoft didn't get the memo, the extra blank space is really unnecessary! :unsure:
