snip tool in Windows 11 has 4 options to select screenshots but not for screen recording

windows 11 23H2 latest snip tool has 4 options to select screenshots but has no such option for screen recording.
how to fix this problem. There was a keyboard shortcut(windows key+shift+s) to take screenshots but now it doesn't open/work with this shortcut
plz help.

You can't use the keyboard shortcut. You'll need to directly open the Snipping Tool app instead.

there are 4 options to select a screen area for screenshots.
However, these four options are not available for screen record using the snip tool.

Because when you enable the screen recording feature, it allows you to manually draw the shape to be captured in video. It's been that way since its inception.

@johnlgalt I will post a screenshot or screen record of missing functionality in the snipping tool. But the problem discussed so far is simple to understand and doesn't need the knowledge of quantum mechanics.

It's not a problem - that is the way the Snipping tool operates. That is why I linked you to the tutorial. It clearly shows how the snipping tool video capture works.

For stills (non video) you have 4 choices - rectangular select, free form select, specific app and full screen. Those are the 4 choices you mention.

For video, you only have a rectangular select. No full screen, no app only, and no free form. And you only get the rectangular select after you start the video snip, and then you get a crosshair to select the area you want to capture.

Because that is the way the snipping tool has been developed by Microsoft.

And that doesn't require a high school diploma to understand, much less knowledge of quantum mechanics.
