Sometimes pressing delete or shift+delete does not delete the selected file

Sometimes pressing delete or shift+delete does not delete the selected file, happens randomly, for example I would keep trying delete or shift+delete for the same file and nothing happens, exit the location and do the same thing over with no luck, after a few times it gets deleted, noticed when this happens using the delete bin icon on top deletes the files directly without any issue, it's just when using the keyboard keys this sometimes happen.

Could this be the keyboard delete key malfunctioning or something else?

It could be the keyboard itself. If possible try another keyboard.

If it is a wired keyboard then there should be no problems regarding the connection but if it is a W-Fi/Bluetooth dongle type then these connections can drop.

I know it's frustrating but I've been experiencing this problem since Windows XP and I haven't resolved it until now.
I used different mouses and keyboards, but the problem persists. I treat it like a "normal" part of using Windows OS. On my 15 years old Sony Vaio I use Linux Mint and I never ever had anything similar.

I've tried to delete many files where I can NOT. I find that if I take ownership of the file first, then I can delete it.
For a long time, I've used the program "Grant Admin Full Control" to make it easy for me to take ownership of any file, right from the Rt Click Context Menu.
Using the shift key + Delete, re-routes the file from the Recycle Bin to the ol' Bit Bucket (permanently GONE!)
That trick has worked for decades.

Made a Notepad with about 6000 col and kept on using the delete key for every letter in order to see if the key at any try stops working and not once, this doesn't seem to be related to the keyboard itself as some have already mentioned.

Guess this is some sort of protection thing? but then when clicking the delete icon above the files get deleted right away, unless this Windows 11 delete icon has full control?

I've had this issue too. My context menu has Take Ownership. After that I can delete anything.

So I just drop this in a new Notepad then change its extension from .txt to .reg correct? What's the name for this command?

EDIT: So I did the file, ran it, restarted and I'm still having the same issue.

Is there a way to change the recycle bin (the recycle bin icon) behavior in the explorer from delete to permanently delete?

There used to be, but that can be dangerous, so I've never done that.
When I know I want to permanently delete a file, no questions asked, I just hold my left shift key down while I hit the Delete key, or click on Delete in the context menu, with my mouse. Safer that way.

As for "Take Ownership", I have that in my Rt Click Context Menu, but I didn't put it there. I guess it must have come with my Win-11.
However, I've actually found times when that did not work. For a long time now, I've used a program that I had to download and install, called "Grant Admin Full Control", which does seem to work better. (It's FREE!)
Once installed, it does show up in the Context Menu.

It's not a new program, but seems to work as well in Win-11 as it did in Win-8.1.
