SSD's are not always the answer. Because SSD vendors like shipping firmware updates that brick them. Unlike HDD's.

OK, that's a joke but it's kinda true...

There is no one size fits all. It's a matter of budget & intended purpose. It still doesn't negate that SSd.s (and especially m.2) ARE a bunch faster and quieter. The only time I use a HDD anymore is in a dock. I use the HDD for archiving iso files, program installation files and a bunch of old downloaded music that I rarely listen to now that I can stream whatever kind of music I want.....times they have a'changed.

I had a closet full of HDD drives in all sizes, but last year I got rid of all but a couple of 2tb drives.

I still have 6 (8 & 4TB) HDD’s in my PC, two in external casings
But I also have 10 SSD’s in my case using a bay that utilises a ROM bay and can hold 4 SSD’s in each bay (older style case) Plus a couple in external SSD enclosures.

HDD’s, as glasskuter said, are great for storage, Internal SSD’s makes a backup rather fast.

My main machine and my backup machine each have three 2TB SSD drives and a 4TB IronWolf HDD. My automated backups go to both SSD and HDD regularly, as well as to my NAS with HDD drives. I have high hopes that at least one of these media types remembers the more critical data. :giggle:
