Start Menu unresponsive after resume from Sleep

Hi,

Been having an odd issue with the new Start Menu, if I put my computer into sleep over night, the following morning when I wake the computer the Start Menu will not work if I click on the Start button with the mouse. It responds to the keyboard. From weeks of troubleshooting, it seems to be related to my pc randomly switching on which somehow breaks the "open state" of the Start Menu, and these times seem linked to Windows Update. I have made sure my network card ethernet and Wi-Fi cannot wake the computer, and this does not seem to help.

If the computer goes into sleep during the day automatically, then the Start Menu works once I wake the computer. I also have Hibernation disabled.

As a side note when I have multiple programs open, why doesn't the PRTSC button open Snipping Tool, it only seems to open if I have open program open. Pressing the Windows Key, Shift and S always works no matter how many windows I have open

device manager>expand mice and other pointing devices>right click on your mouse>select properties>select powermanagement tab>
Uncheck allow computer to turn off device to save power
Check allow this device to wake computer
OK


I would first make sure there are no corrupted system files.
Open a command prompt as administrator and type dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When complete restart. Then open command prompt as admin again and run sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair.
If issues were repaired see if the problem is resolved.

You also might want to install the out of band update that just was released yesterday.

Thanks, I already have those settings enabled for the mouse.

I have recently done an in-place upgrade hoping to fix any issues. Running the tests show no issues.

How about a clean boot? Does everything work right then?
