Strange update issues

OS
W11Pro
So this morning I turned on this Dell 7740 I got last week, all of a sudden it started going kind of crazy, kept going on and off (video wise) and the file explorer kept popping up, finally it just went to blue screen and said there were some OS issues and had to restart. Well upon a restart, it went right into the blue screen again and kept that up 2 more times, then it went into some Dell assistant screen and wanted to reinstall the OS via Wi-Fi. Man, well, I didn't want to go through that because I wasn't sure if it would end up installing W10P. So I did a full restore using my AOMEI backup. Which thankfully restored my system, It's running ok again now.

So I checked WU and found a mess of files sitting there that were not downloaded, due to error, I haven't bothered to click retry. Also in the optional downloads, it shows the same BIOS update that I have already installed, I checked my system and yes, the BIOS is up-to-date with the same one listed.

Any ideas from anyone on this? Thanks

It's been a well-known issue on this and other forums for the last 5 or 6 days. I had it on my Vostro Notebook but not on my Vostro Desktop. I set the update pause for a week, manually checked the next couple days and the issue had gone away. Those files had actually already been installed a week or so before, couple of times.

Well, after finding out the hard way which download was causing the blue screen, I ended up having to recover my system yet again due to doing the downloads one by one manually. The one that seems to be causing all this is "Intel Corporation - Display - 30.0.101.1338" I was able to download each one under that, and when I re downloaded that one, and it installed, all of a sudden my system went to crap again. I think there's something about having to go to Intel directly and downloading the newest driver there and install it offline . But I'm kind of Leary of doing it at all now. Seems MS and Intel should have a fix for this by now, or at least not have those files show up in Windows update list at all until they do. Some people that run into this may not have a recent backup, and end up with no computer.

So now I have to go through the troubleshooter again and set WU to manual again. At least I know what is the case though.

OK, so I managed to download the latest Intel driver from the Intel site directly, I did get it to install and rebooted and all is well there. However, checking Windows Update again after the reboot, it still shows all these old files I assume are driver related still listed, including the one that cause all the problems, the 1st one on the top of the list.

Is there some way to clear out this list now, and why would they still be showing up anyway after installing the latest Intel Graphic driver/program/ Which btw is almost 500 mg.

This is just a temporary fix, Windows will again make them downloadable 30 days later

The problem is these are already downloaded and sitting here, Just this morning after installing the latest intel driver myself the intel updates again installed themselves even after I set it to "pause" last night, well yes it paused updates, but the ones I don't want are already in Que. So it wanted to restart as usual after it installed this mess again, I set it to pause restart, because I know what will happen once it restarts, I'll end up yet again having to recover my last backup. I can'be going through this over and over. There has to be a way to "clear" all those Intel updates still sitting there. Even after I do my recovery's those still keep getting downloaded before I'm even able to get to pause updates.

Installed it yesterday, after turning on this morning it went nuts again, ended up doing a restore point recovery this time from yesterday, back up and running so far, and set the updates to pause for now.

Have no such issues with my w10P systems. Was hoping to move away from those older laptops due to aging hard drives and other issues on 15 y/o hardware.

Btw I ran that tool, all it found was the BIOS update, which I had already installed via Dell SupportAssistant. The Intel driver/graphics stuff wasn't there at all. They are shown in Windows update "driver" section, but no way to either tell it to not download or uninstall. They were not listed as optional, they just showed up in the usual download.
