My method
- Relocate system user folders to a separate partition
e.g. Move or Restore Default Location of Downloads Folder in Windows 11 (references Downloads folder, but same for all Documents, Music, Video, etc)
- image system partition and user folders partition separately
- reduces the size of system's partition image without user files
- systems partition need not be imaged as frequently as user files partition because of less changes
- user files partition more easily accessed to back up files in native format (instead of/as well as imaging?)

Thank you, and thanks for pointing out the separation of personal and system files, sth the lambda user never does. I've been doing this for 25 years, to make sure I can reinstall or change OS without affecting personal data. Also, viruses/trojans aim for system files, not for other HDs.
