Friends: Without comment on the messiness of my Desktop, please.

My 'good' Desktop looks like this:

The little green dots desirably tells me which files Carbonite has backed up. Regularly, but for unknown reasons, those dots change to this:

When I refresh the screen like so:

... I get back to 'good' again:

Any suggestions on how I can stay at 'good'?

Could just be OneDrive going troppo, whether he’s using it or not.

Strangely enough, sometimes right clicking on the desktop and choosing "refresh" often works with icon overlays.
I have also restated explorer.exe, strangely enough again, also can correct overlay issues.

I don't think this Green Tick is from OneDrive.

I'm currently not on my Win 11 machine, but under Win 10, OneDrive's overlays have the Green Ticks on the bottom left corner. This might be Norton.

Does seem like it's a case of competing overlays.

Yeah not OneDrive. The only ones I can find that are remotely like those overlays is for “Dropbox” or “Box cloud backup”.

Whatever they are, they're related to some kind of sync whether the OP knows it or not. Is my opinion.

I've done my very best to exorcize OneDrive from my computers. Of course, was added automatically on Win 10 upgrade. I had to turn it off and delete as best possible.

I've been without OneDrive for quite a while but it suddenly reappeared with the last update (22631.4391). At least it didn't mess with my folders this time. I'll have to see how long it is before it makes a return.

Tony your green ticks are on the bottom right and are solid (very much like the Box overlays)
Solid green ticks for OneDrive have an outer darker green outline to the circle and appear on the left side.
