System makes a sound and then the mouse"hesitates"

First off let me warn you that I have let my technical skills decline greatly and will probably need to be led by the hand through this. My system keeps making the two tone sound that I associate with a new window popping up. It happens most frequently when I am doing something that requires user interaction such as any type of game. Whenever that happens the mouse cursor disappears for a second. I have tried scanning for viruses with Bitdefender and found nothing. I've noticed that it isn't happening now while I enter this question. Any clues or suggestions as to what is up with this?

If it's a double beep type sound, this usually happens when trying to use the mouse or click on something while you have a hung system for a moment.

If this is the case, then the question is what may be causing the hang. Could be driver related, or something that has recently changed before this started.

Is there any way to track the cause? It seems to be getting progressively worse?

You can try to note what is running when it happens to see if anything common stands out.

If this has just recently started, you could try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this started to hopefully stop it.

Well, the processor is: AMD Ryzen 5 4600G with Radeon Graphics (3.70 GHz)

I've been looking around the options under the "System" folder and found that I can reinstall windows without losing all my files so I will probable try that. There appears to be no rhyme nor reason for when the issue happens other than I'm usually using the mouse when it happens. I'll report back when I find if it works.

and see which sound is being played. is it User Account Control?

This sounds like it may also be a USB Disconnect/Connect sound.

Try running a Clean Boot. This will disable most apps running in the background with Windows.
If this works you can Keep it this way or you can add one or more Services and or Startup Items at a time until the behavior returns. Then you will know the culprit.

The reinstall did nothing, the problem persists. However I identified the sound as Windows Hardware Remove.wav I couldn't find "User Account Control". I'll try the Clean Boot once I figure out how to do it.

its in the same folder... but as long as you identified the sound. check event viewer for the time it happened (happens)

My bad, I was looking for User, not Windows User. The file you named is definitely not the sound I'm hearing. But does "Hardware Remove" mean that my system is losing contact with the mouse? Possibly a hardware issue? When this first started happening I had my mouse plugged into one of the front USB ports on my desktop and when the sound happened I would lose power to the mouse and have to restart the system. I moved it to a rear USB port and that stopped happening.

Tried it and got this. Both my mouse and keyboard are Logitech. This showed up after the first time I heard the sound. It chimed a couple of times immediately after the first time but no subsequent entries appeared.

Well, I loaded USB Log view and tried it. Go figure, after the initial response I posted above it hasn't chimed since. I'm not declaring it solved yet, but things are looking hopeful!
