Hi forum,

I have removed all temp files/folders manually (by going to "temp" and "%temp%" folders and removing all files and folders). And with the help of "Disk CleanUp", but "Storage" shows about 900MB temp files/folders (no. 2 in SS below).

I have disabled RS (=Reserved Storage), but it shows 24GB RS in "System & reserved" (no. 3).
My Virtual Memory setting is set to "System managed size" (has 1856 MB allocated). Hibernation is off, and Swap file is 16 MB.

Why does it show the 898 MB in temp files/folders? Despite disabling RS, the Settings shows 24GB RS!

I have a similar issue, 284MB of 'Temporary files' that won't delete. The Storage setting doesn't even show them.

Failure to delete all files may be related to the NTFS file system, hard links, junctions, etc.

If you find a better link that explains the failure to delete all files please post a link into this thread.

There's an old program called Uncleaner you might want to check out,

Selecting 'Last File Report' lists the temp files. Double clicking on a file takes you to the location. Although it's showing Bad it isn't really as most of those temp files pertain to Edge. Running 'clean' with browser closed is best.

Thanks. You missed #1. That's the result of pressing the arrow! Do you know what is the "Update"? Is that Win update files size? After every CU I do WU Cleanup.

My main problem is RS. I have disabled it, but it shows 24 GB of Reserved Storage space! I know disabling the RS just reduces the size of it and doesn't disable it completely (The C drive is 70 GB).

It doesn't show 24 GB of RS but shows (near enough) system files and virtual memory. I don't know if windows compensates if you disable RS and adds space to the system files though. My system files plus RS plus virtual memory adds up to 27.02 GB.

It doesn't show 24 GB of RS but shows (near enough) system files and virtual memory.
AFAIK Windows dedicates a relative amount of C drive to RS (based on your drive and its free space). I think Windows includes VM (Virtual Memory) into RS size calculation.

I don't know if windows compensates if you disable RS and adds space to the system files though.
I have no "Reserved files" there. But I had fewer System files (less size) before (17 to 18 GB). The C drive is adding up sizes!

1- Virus infection check = Passed
2- Disk Cleanup = Passed
3- Temp file/folders deletion = Passed
4- Hibernation = Off
5- VM size = Set automatically (2 GB)
6- Desktop files/folders size = 11 MB
7- User profile folder size = 3.5 GB

That's what I mean, windows, most probably, has added reserved storage space to the system.
