OS
Windows 11
Started having issues where my system would start acting up with performance, running slower and then would take hours to shut off, I would leave it and come back from watching some shows and its still sitting on shutting down screen.

Steps taken thus far:
Went through the process of cleaning up my main Drive where windows is installed moved files from my C drive to external or other internal drives uninstalled unused apps etc,
Update the drivers on my system using Driver Booster.
Updated Graphics card Drivers
Used a tool called Windows 11 Manager to (Clean Junk Files, Registry Cleaner, Registry Defrag)
Used Wiztree to scan hard drive to see what was taking the most space and my friends saw that my I had a very large Pagefile.sys (20GB) on my system. So they had me follow a tutorial from windows 11 forms showing how to turn that off so my system doesn't generate the Pagefile.sys folder and removed the old Pagefile.sys that was generated.
After doing these steps the system seemed to speed up a bit and didn't take forever to shut down.

Now a week later the system is again running slower again and stared taking ages to shut down and generated another 18GB Pagefile.sys file and I also now received a blue screen when I went to put my PC to sleep mode as I was planning on being AFK for a couple of hours, It is also now having an issue after i close all my programs and go to Start and Shut down it does not do anything even after trying to click shut down several time and eventually it would start shutting down.

I have uploaded the crash report to google drive:

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone is able to help me resolve this issue as I work for myself doing graphics and 3d modeling and having my system crash and acting up and causing me to lose progress on projects is not ideal, So i would really appreciate the help a lot. Thank you

I have you run any type of DFT (Drive Fitness Tests) scans lately? I have seen systems exhibit this behavior where the disk health was poor (a.k.a. potential disk failure imminent)

Hi there neemobeer, Thank you for your speedy reply. I have not done a Drive Fitness Test yet, any tools you would recommend I use to do this?

Speedfan used to be my go-to back in the day, but I don't know if it is still actively developed. SeaTools was another SeaTools | Support Seagate US. Your system may have one baked into the firmware (BIOS/UEFI)

Thank you neemobeer, I went and used the SeaTools and scanned all 5 Hdd in my system.
The C drive (SSD) passed the test.
Only one of my other internal drives (HDD) failed the test quick test but passed the longer test but has a yellow "!" but when I click on it, it doesn't show me why it's giving that drive the "!".
I have started to back that drive up to my external HDD just in case and I can use the Fix all option on the SeaTools on that drive.
I did check out the system crash report that was generated in the file I attached and it keeps mentioning the page file in there over and over again.

Please perform the following steps:

1) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

2) Create a new restore point

3) The BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 5003, 7/10/2023

Upgrade the BIOS: 5003 > 5013

4) Test all drives > post share links

Sea Tools Long generic test

Macrorit Full surface test

Chkdsk /b /v C:

Test all drives using the syntax: Chkdsk /b /v C: or Chkdsk /b /v D: or Chkdsk /b /v D: etc.

Make sure that the chkdsk testing for the Windows drive runs overnight while sleeping.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /b /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Reboot as needed.

5) After completing all chkdsk scans run:

"Delayed Write Failed" -> This can happen with a bad ATA connection! If it's a SATA cable, replace the SATA cable! If it's M.2, unplug then reconnect the drive, with the PC powered off!

"The IO operation at logical block address 0x5ede18 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000045) was retried." Whatever disk 0 is, it's failing, most likely!

Not likely a Windows bug, except for early-versions of Windows 10, where I noticed that bug back in 2016, probably with 1511! (or 1507)
The mentioned early versions of 10, has an issue, where it has unusual hangs and Windows logs the message about it being retried, and it's more likely to occur with SSDs than platter drives! How ironic!

I can't tell if the OS drive is "Disk 0" or not, without information from diskpart.

I see that Steam is on a Seagate HDD. (looks like a 2 TB Barracuda model)

It would be informative to know what this poster's problem ended up being, but it looks like he abandoned the thread.

Why don't you just delete the pagefile. To turn off the pagefile system, to see if that eliminates the issue, make a search on You Tube by searching for: How can I disable pagefile in Windows 11. Pagefile grows when the PC goes to sleep. It save the Windows state at that time, and then windows reads the pagefile when it wakes back up. Pagefile will reset the screen display back to what it displayed before the PC went to sleep, and it also reopens all programs to the pages when it left off. A Second Reason: The PC can take a long time to shut off is if faulty "free" software is installed -- these are usually free programs from the www. Free programs are poorly made, often having a memory leak, and if so, the program uses up memory, then will not release the used memory when finished running-- leaving the PC with too little memory. If the Task Manager shows that memory is being all used up, then your PC is going to do all-things slowly, including shutdown. Thirdly, a bug/infection on the PC. Some of them "reproduce" themself, thus they use up all of the disk space, during the long shut-down time. You can see that by checking the amount of used space on the HDD. If the amount of used space on the drive keeps increasing, but you have not really added a bunch of photos and movies to the HDD, then it can be a bug doing it.
