System thinks I have 3 monitors but I only have 2

My system is showing that I have 3 monitors, but I only have 2. It is also not stable in identifying the primary monitor. It seems to change that when I power down or put in sleep.
The problem most seriously manifests when I open a program and it opens on the non-existent monitor.
When I select the ghost monitor in system display and select "Disconnect the display", I get a pop up message that says "Lenvo Smart Appearance, This function is currently unavailable please check your device or try it later".

Windows 11 version 22H2 (OS build 22621.2428)
My second monitor is a Samsung 32" curved model C34J791WTNXZA connected via HDMI

Are you able to select the invalid monitor scroll down and click the multiple display drop down. Select "Disconnect this display" and accept the change when prompted. Then click "Remove this display" from the same drop down?

I find our new Lenovo Yoga a great laptop, but a lot of Lenovo services like, Lenovo Smart Appearance are buggy and seem to cause issues. It’s all a bit of a mess in their system, Lenovo stuff spread all over the place rather than grouped or often just a rabbit hole of settings.

Something else to consider;

Extra monitors showing in display settings​

You may experience an issue with "phantom" or "ghost" monitors showing in the Windows Display Settings, even though these extra monitors are not connected to the computer. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

1. Right-click and remove any excess generic PnP monitors from Devices and Printers in Control Panel.
2. Right-click and uninstall any Generic PnP monitor(s) appearing in Device Manager.
3. Install the latest video drivers (for either the onboard Intel graphics card, for the “Nvidia card“ probably best via Lenovo or the add-on NVIDIA or AMD graphics card)
4. You may need to reboot your computer after installing the video drivers. After the driver completes the installation, only the monitors connected to the computer should be showing in the Display Settings.
