Hi Guys,

Been trying to resolve recent updates not installing, so tried running the Windows Update trouble shooter, but when I click on the "Run" button (System > Troubleshoot > Other trouble-shooters) I just get a pop-up error message (see below).

I also get the same error if I click on "Run" for any of other trouble-shooters.

I have heard rumours that the trouble-shooters are being 'retired', but surely they shouldn't bomb-out like this?

Also, if there another, more up to date Windows Update trouble-shooter?

If you open search (Win + s) and type Microsoft Store, does the store open? Your error appears to be saying MS Store isn't associated

Your error appears to be saying MS Store isn't associated
In particular, the Get Help app (which now replaces the old deprecated troubleshooters).
The ID 9PKDZBMV1H3T is a Microsoft Store ID for the "Get Help" app which now runs all the troubleshooters.

Try resetting or repairing Get Help. Go to System >System components, find Get Help, click on the ... and select Advanced options.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Use Windows Update Troubleshooter.


  • Right-click on Start button and pick Settings
  • Go to System > Troubleshoot
  • Click on Other Troubleshooters > Windows Update and click Run button.



Download Windows updates manually.


  • Go to the official Microsoft update catalog;
  • Enter a specific update code, for example, KB4481031
  • Select the correct version and click Download
  • Click on the link and Windows will update your computer



Resetting the Windows Update components can usually solve these types of issues.

It appears that the Microsoft Store is not installed on my system. I don't recall, but it must've been one of the things I uninstalled when I was doing a clean-up months ago, since I never use it.

Question is: is it worth reinstalling?
