Taskbar height doubled even if taskbar size still set to default

hi all, hoping someone can help me out. my computer is an acer spin 3 running windows 11 home 22H2, and also using stardock's start 11 customizations for my taskbar. the laptop is a hybrid, so i can use it on laptop mode and tablet mode. yesterday i was using it on tablet mode (with my taskbar set to autohide and the tablet mode optimization enabled), and everything was fine until i switched back to laptop mode and now my taskbar looks as shown in the attachment: everything is still the same size, except the taskbar is double the height with a bunch of space on top. it still hides when i need it to hide, but it's very annoying to lose that extra bit of space at the bottom when i'm reading something, for example. if i turn the autohide taskbar function off, the taskbar looks as it's supposed to look normally, without the space on top. but i'm very used to having the taskbar autohide so i would rather not have to turn it off.

anyone got any ideas as to how to fix this? i looked up how to change taskbar size in win 11 and only got results saying to change it in the registry, but my taskbar is still set to the default size (taskbarsi = 1) on the registry (and i don't believe this is what they mean by "change size" anyway). any other results i've found are for people using more than one monitor, which i'm not. so i don't know how else to look for a solution. any help you can give me is more than welcome.

Have you restarted to see if the problem goes away?
If not, I would uninstall start11 and restart again. If the taskbar works and looks as it should in both modes, it definitely would point to the problem being caused bystart11.

What are you using Start11 for? Maybe you can switch to another utility such as Explorer Patcher or Open Shell.

I just want the original Windows 10 Startmenu instead of the botched 11 one. I'm using EP on my Desktop, but it didnt work on my Laptop for some reason. And does too much other changes to explorer and Taskbar.

First do all Windows Updates to make sure none of them will interfere. Then download Explorer Patcher latest version and try it again on your laptop. If it works, you can change from Windows 10 to Windows 11 functionality on the parts you want in the Settings.

thx, I tried again and it worked this time after a restart.
Unfortunately the app list doesnt show Windows Store apps?
I only see them when i start typing which opens Windows 11's search menu but when i press "pin to start" from there they don't show up in my EP startmenu (

It is a "traditional" desktop application, so it should be listed in All Applications (haven't checked), not in the Windows Store applications section.

Thanks, but i think you read my post wrong.

I think Explorer Patcher starts automatically with Windows, so there is no need to be at start menu. If you end its task for some reason, just launch it manually by double-clicking the executable file at the Program Files folder, don't know the exact path. Or you can simply restart your computer and it will be loaded at startup.

yes, I meant ALL Windows store apps. They aren't listed in the "All Apps" list on the left of the startmenu. On my other machine, which started out under windows 10 an I updated to 11 this wasnt a problem, i could just continue to use the old startmenu with EP.

I had Open Shell to get the Windows 7 start button and start menu. I added Explorer Patcher to restore the taskbar right-click menu so I could use Task Manager without having to invoke the Win+X Windows tools menu every time. Latest builds of Windows 11 22H2 include the Task Manager by default when right-clicking on the taskbar, but it doesn't harm to have the full right-click menu from Windows 10, so I keep using Explorer Patcher. If all applications are updated and you also install Windows updates, you should have no conflicts.
