Hi folks

First this test involves using Linux KVM/QEMU as the host so if you are looking for a 100% Windows solution - skip this post and wait until the end of the test when I can implement a Windows solution - but for those interested - just continue. So please no aggro about why is this on a Windows Forum -- This section is about Virtualisation and many here do run Linux VM's - so If I can get a pure Windows solution eventually in a roundabout way then it's OK by me - if you don't like this just skip the post.

Just as an experiment -- not worrying about performance for this test -- I'm going to try out awhat might seem a Bonkers test - but interesting.
I'm goig to test on a Linux Host a Windows 11 Pro machine with Hyper-V installed - and then as a 2nd level VM try and create a Linux VM on that and see if I can get any sound etc. There's a bit of Linux software around now X11->Wayland bridge which seemingly can use Windows RDP protocol. If this works then problem should be solved.

If using this method you need to check IOMMAX in your physical machines BIOS is set correctly annd also in the Linux host you need to ensure when creating your VM that it enables "Nested VM's". The procedure is available for both Intel and AMD CPU's. Dopn't expect magic like fast performance -- this is merely a test that might not work.

Will take me a while to set it all up but I'm free today so something new to try.

Cheers

Hi folks:

Test 1 so far OK

Local Host Linux 192.168.4.87 i.e machine I'm logged on to.
Remote Windows VM Enterprise latest Dev Build 25H2 192.168.4.104 Running on Remote Host Linux so different physical machine (important for proper test).

Windows being accessed from the HOST Linux machine at 192.168.4.87.

Remote Host (also Linux ) 182.168.4.49

Screenshot_20251124_131550.webpI need to do a few more things to get full size screen etc but so far so good.

Now to get Windows VM to access Remote Linux Host

Then todo : Create on the Windows VM a Linux VM with HYPER-V.

Lunch (and Pub) time now. !!!!

Cheers

Virtual or Host VM -- if Virtual what Virtual machine software are you running (Oracle VBOX, VmWare, Hyper-V, KVM/QEMU etc} -- If it's a Linux HOST install and run fastfetch to display kernel level etc.
