The surgery went well...

Well, I just performed successful mattress surgery. 23 years ago, I bought a really, really good mattress.
Well... a day or two ago a spring "got loose" and was poking at me.

So I called in the nurse, and started in on the surgery. First was a 3" horizontal incision, to be able to get at the offending spring. When I found it, I said to the nurse... "Channel Lock-long nose pliers", which she slapped into my hand.

Then I grabbed the offending spring and "bent" it into the center of the mattress. After a bit of testing, this was found to be adequate. I then thought to ask the nurse to "close" but this was very thick epidermis, so I did it myself.

I used a size 18 yarn needle and quadrupled the thread through the needle. It took a double row of 24 stitches, to close the incision. I'm happy to report that the mattress is doing well, and is healthy enough to be complaining about the hospital food.

I'm glad the mattress hernia repair was successful. Just remember not to put it under too much strain for a few weeks.

That's interesting that you mentioned hernia.

1. The mattress injury was sort of like a hernia, in mattress world.
2. About 12 years ago, I had an "inguinal hernia" myself.

Now... I can see that I missed a few LOLs in my tale.

I could have termed the mattress injury, a "springuinal hernia", and added the "no heavy lifting" bit.

That's very good! Should ernia a laugh or two.

My mama used to say "Quit bouncing around on that bed. You're gonna blow out a spring." You really must learn to curtail your strenuous nocturnal activities. That mattress is no SPRING chicken.
