You may be able to track it down using Gpedit. Select Administative Templates and set Action > Filter Options... to Configured: Yes. It may show up as a configured policy.

Thanks @Bree I have Administrative Templates under computer configuration and user configuration both are set to yes. This is all a bit beyond me and I have no idea what I should be looking for

It's easier to find configured policies if you set the Filter as I showed in post #4. Then only configured policies will be listed. They show as 'Enabled' in the 'State' column.

You should set that option as "not configured" in Gpedit. After that, you will be able to change it.

Options set in Group policy can't be changed via app options

I don't really understand GPedit
You really shouldn't need to configure anything. That option should not be greyed out in a clean install where by default no policies will be configured. The problem seems to be that you have made registry changes that affect this, but that may not be exactly the same as GPEdit would use. Setting a policy in GPEdit, then setting it back to 'not configured' should remove all relevant registry settings.

GPEdit is just a GUI that can apply registry changes from a template, but there's nothing to stop you making those same (or similar) changes using Regedit.

For reference, Microsoft publish a spreadsheet that details the registry settings used by GPEdit.

@Bree Thank you so much, as I said I do not understand GPedit and polices but you explained it very well, I set the setting in post #11 back to not configured and now the option in post #1 is back to how it should be and available again (even after reboot :)) So it looks like it is fixed thanks to you (y)
