Are you saying Irfanview does this? Not mine, and never seen nor heard of it happening.

Sorry. I simply assumed that people realized I am talking about Windows 11 Operating System.

Al the dialog boxes for viewing files / saving files / opening files / et cetera.

I hope that clears things up.

Apparently many people don't understand that on a Mac, for instance, you can very very easily make the thumbnail views in windows any size you want. It is really nice, especially for big monitors. This is needed for both File Explorer and the popup dialog boxes when opening and saving images.
The issue of even the Extra Large size setting being not very extra large at all seems to go over everyone's head because they have not see the size you can make them on a Mac.

But I do have a solution that not only solves the size of image thumbnail problem but also previews many many more file types than the ones Windows can. And it has even more features. But, the downside is that is not free.

The solution is called Mystic Thumbs: MysticThumbs - Image thumbnails for Windows Explorer.

I have used it for years and it is excellent.

Price is steep for a private user. 45 bucks

It is a bit steep for just giving you larger thumbnails.
Also, a bit more information. It works sporadically with cloud based on deman storage like Onedrive. Basically, their programmer told me yesterday via email that the files must be physically on the drive, not in the cloud or on demand.

Are you trying to change the windows explorer view -metrics- : that is, among other things, the relative space between the icons at a particular size?
AFAIK WE doesn't, so if you really need this, I would suggest doing a search for free windows explorer alternatives, and actually try them one by one. No one seems to talk about that. I remember a linux app that would probably do what you want but don't remember its name.

I am thinking it was more of a photo album app. or a photo organizing app - might do a win search for that. Forget "explorer".
