Hey all,a few weeks back my old pc gave up on me,and I was forced to get new one,so far it's a nice system no troubles as such,BUT I have noticed one odd thing which is driving me nuts,it's setup and I have my keyboard, mouse, headphones and a HTC vive plugged in,when I press the power button and it boots, I get 5 short beeps, then the system will boot, everything seems to run fine.
Over the last few days I've tried a process of elimination, and it appears the problem is caused by having the keyboard and mouse plugged in!! if I remove them the system boots with no beeps,I have tried a spare keyboard and mouse and the same thing happens,so it is certainly a issue with these being plugged in,I did try contacting the makers and just got a really useless reply back saying if it doesn't cause a problem ignore it!
Anyone got any ideas why this is happening? it's the same combo I've used for years, and never had a issue on my old pc which was running win 10,odd thing is,everything works fine so I've no idea why it is doing this.

Those beeps indicate a fault found during Power-on Self Test so
if they are not listed in your manual, and
your motherboard maker will not explain them, and
there's no obvious indicator in the Bios, and
there's no pre-boot built-in, user-controllable hardware test facility, then
perhaps you might get a decent response in their user forums.

Best of luck,
Denis

The most common errors I've run into that give beeps is the RAM/Random Access Memory modules missing or not correctly plugged in or the CPU hasn't been properly seated or cooling fans not plugged in or working, may also give notice is a boot device is not found.

the thing is though,it's none of these,if I startup without the keyboard or mouse plugged in, I get NO beeps, which shows nothing is wrong systems wise,it's only when I plug them in this happens, and it's on any mouse/keyboard combo

Just a guess, a BIOS setting of Halt on Error for the Keyboard? Getting beeps with the keyboard present indicates something has happened in the BIOS, I'd unplug all power to the computer, press the power button to assure residual power has drained off then either remove the CMOS battery or change the jumper, get the BIOS set back to Default.

Just an idea but maybe look at the Bios settings for USB, may need to tell it you are using a USB keyboard / Mouse so the USB is imediately active and not just when the PC has booted.
