Hi, there are too much Visual c++ installed in my PC.

how do I know what/which apps installed diffrent versions, or need different versions?
My PC is 64-bit, latest Windows 11 up-to-date, and I don't play any old games that require visual C++ runtimes neither.
Can I safely remove all x86 versions as my PC is 64-bit?

No, the x86 versions will be there to support 32-bit programs that use them. Just because your windows is 64-bit doesn't mean that all your installed software is.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

These are the ones you need. You can remove the others...

For each year, you should have one x64 and one x86 version.
If you have any duplicates... keep the one with the highest version number.

Definitely not. If you remove it, you may experience app crashes, errors, or not running at all. Some apps will tell you that a x86 version of Visual C++ Is required and it will tell you to install it.

Not really. The older ones are the ones that cause the problems with some programs, if you don't have them... but you can get the one that includes 2022 here if desired. (On the left).

Personally, I like to wait a bit, to make sure that the Feb 2022 version is Microsoft's... "final answer". :D

Here's the official link...

Even though MS doesn't officially support the older versions... many programs (especially older ones), that we install, DO need the older versions.

Should be a tutorial for this. :D

Great post - I saved a bunch of space by deleting everything except the latest version for each year.
