Why did I ever look at the event viewer? Built this new system based around an AMD Gigabyte aorus elite B650 and 7900X. Getting this error in the event viewer with event ID 15.

The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used. For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer.

TPM appears in the device manager but typing the command tpm.msc the console opens but with a message 'cannot load management console'

Obviously windows sees the TPM as how else would it allow windows 11 to install?

Tried all the tricks, clearing TPM in the bios, turning it off and on, setting it to fTPM and updated the bios to the latest version but no change!

Thanks in advance.

The clear-tpm command resets the TPM to its default state. The clear-tpm command removes the owner authorization value and any keys stored in the TPM.

To clear TPM status, launch the PowerShell as administrator and run the command clear-tpm.

I think this is because the TPM management console fails to load

If you're using a discreet TPM module, that may be the problem.
There are a lot of fake TPM modules on the market.
Back when they first announced the requirements for Win 11, the market was flooded with them.

Just a thought.

Got the latest chipset drivers installed but still getting the TPM error.

The event viewer says 'For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer' so I've left a message with gigabyte support on the 17th March so lets see how long it takes for them to reply (no doubt they'll say contact Microsoft).

Gigabyte points to a microsoft 10 site which say to make sure latest SSU and CU are installed (they are) else contact the manufacturer!

I'm on windows 11. Guess I'm going to reinstall windows after all. Maybe disable TPM.

I'm not using a discreet TPM module. There is no option to 'clear TPM' from the actions tab!

Also secure boot is enabled in the bios. Might have to reinstall windows as a last resort.
I believe that you can clear the TPM by resetting the motherboard's CMOS.

On the Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite, it's done in the old-school way, with a jumper.
