Hi folks
just messing around with TPM currently - have enabled in BIOS was previously set to disabled -- now when creating a VM and I want to use TPB I'm presented with a choice of CRB or TIS.

Haven't got a clue -- any offers here at explanation. (Note if the TPM module is disabled in BIOS then it doesn't appear in add new hardware for VM).

I foudn a lot of references to CRB but not a lot for TIS. Which one does it show as default after enabling? That's what I would try first.

Hi there

I foudn a lot of references to CRB but not a lot for TIS. Which one does it show as default after enabling? That's what I would try first.

CRB is the ist in the dropdown and one can choose either version. As this machine was around 2016 Vintage I'm probably sure the TPM module would be the older one - but it might be interesting to see if the VM hardware can emulate 2.0. I can create the VM as a test with secure boot so another few things to "have a go with"

The TPM V2.0 gives choice as well -- emulated or passthru -- I'll try emulated first

Other VM users - e.g VMWare/ VBOX/ Hyper-V - is there somewhere also to add TPM hardware in the Virtual Bios - I want to try all these out too.

If I disable TPM in the BIOS I don't get option to add TPM to the VM -- secure boot option still available though.

Cheers

There definitely is in Hyper-V. In the VM Settings, under Security.

Thanks:

I'm going to have a go also with HYPER-V running on a W11 VM and create a 2nd level VM W10 on the W11Guest. Should be a bit of fun - Nesting VM's seems quite possible on my system. At this stage not too bothered about performance but just want as "Proof of Concept".

Question - has anybody tried creating HYPER-V VM's with W11 as HOST -- any specific problems with it - particularly using Real I/O for the Virtual Disk(s) - i.e using a physical drive rather than vhd(x).
