I can not figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to uninstall unused apps, both Windows apps and some third party apps in order to regain disk space. Those that I could, I used Revo Pro cleaning up remnants each time. Others, I right clicked on the app in All apps list, selected remove, and they were also removed from the list. However, Treesize still shows the apps using disk space. How do I get rid of this crap I do not use and regain my disk space? Attached is a screenshot of just one page of Treesize for folder C:\Program Files\Windows Apps so you can see what I am talking about. File explorer denies me access to this folder and I have not messed with ownership so it is still owned by 'trusted installer'..

Also none of the Windows apps, show up in C:\Users\glass\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps. Neither do the 3rd party apps show up in C:\Program Files or my appdata folder. This leads me to believe that the data Treesize sees using space in C:\Program Files\Windows Apps may be the installation packages since the apps do not show up anywhere else as being installed. If that be true, how do I get rid of them?

The Windows apps I want to remove are:
Microsoft Your Phone
Skype
One Note
Teams
Zune
Mixed Reality Portal
Sound Recorder
Clipchamp
To-Do
Maps.

I removed the following using Revo Pro, They are gone everywhere but they still show up in Treesize as well:
Power Director for Dell
Cinebench
Power2go for Dell
Power Media Player for Dell

Also, I attempted to use powershell to remove the Your Phone app. Here's a screenshot of its failure but I think it may be because the Your Phone app is already uninstalled..

Hey, GK! HNY!

Could the YourPhone problem be the quotation marks?

Try (admin) Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

You freed up only a few GBs, if space is indeed the issue, then you would need more space anyway.

No, I freed up about 14 gb all total when all was said and done.I ended up getting rid of more 3rd party apps I never use. Not so much the space, but having these useless windows apps has irked me for a long time. I have a small boot drive and like to keep everything below 50%. I never know when I might need the rest of the space for a windows.old folder.

After removing all the Windows Apps I didn't want in Revo (free)...there's only 1.4GB in the Windows Apps folder, left. It looks the same on Windows 11 also.

Here's REVO on Win 11. The two things with RED strike throughs, are gone.

Something else I noticed... when I run those Powershell commands to.. remove Apps, if I already removed them in REVO, they throw errors in Powershell.
Also, even after being removed in REVO, they still show up on the Apps list, created in Powershell.
You can see that in my Windows 10 screenshots, above. (like the Xbox App, for example)

Like... Clipchamp showed up on the Powershell Apps list, even after I had removed it in REVO.

All too often, someone (an un-named user) will remove some unused program or programs to try to free up hard drive space, while at the same time, overlooking the GB's of pure crap still residing happily on the HD.

Doing a complete system and HD cleanup has been my 'speciality' for decades. Like, on my first HD, a Seagate 20 Megabyte spinner, space was at a premium, so it was "NO CRAP ALLOWED!" So I wrote little batch files, to remove the CRAP. I continued to do that, all the way up through Windows XP. Nowadays, I have professionally written programs to take care of that.

For instance, if you serf the internet very much, you'll gather tons of "Tracking Cookies". My worse case was one teenager's PC that had 140,000 tracking cookies on it. That was easily cleaned out, by the installation of "Super Anti Spyware" FREE. (+ getting the latest updates and running a FULL Scan).
Then, of course, there were TEMP files, Temporary Internet Files, and some other things I won't even mention here. :devilish:
"Windows Utilities" took care of everything but the unmentionables. (I deleted those too!)
The teenager had made himself scarce, but his dad commented, when I was done, "Dang, it never ran that good when it was new!".

Doing a total cleanup on any PC, takes a while, and the right programs, but when done the increase in performance is very noticeable.

Even "Revo Uninstaller" will leave crap behind, in the registry, so after I uninstall anything, I run 'WinUtilities' to clean out the registry.
It just never fails to remove the Left Overs.

Good Luck,
TM

Given to me as DEAD, and irreparable.
I refurbished it, with a new SSD and max ram, and it's running Win-8.1 today.
