Other than some third party app, I'm not aware of a way to add the old taskbar toolbar feature back yet.
Thx Shawn.

Any dependable rumors yet about when us mortals are going to get seconds back in the clock? I saw seconds listed for one of the recent Insiders builds, but there's no sign of the little buggers yet on the plain folks' sets.

It works with 22621.1635, but you have to use the reg hack.

Thanks, @rpo, I know. I responded to Brink's post about the preview update. I updated to 1635, when I already had the registry hack in place, and SHAZAM! I had seconds back in the clock.

Appreciate your time responding.

The REG file works for me, but the seconds are not displayed in real-time on the lock screen. Is there any way to fix this?

Hello, and welcome. :alien:

I'm afraid this only affects the clock on the taskbar corner. It does not affect the clock on the lock screen.

Hello 👋

I now see "Show seconds in system tray clock" in my Taskbar behaviors. It wasn't there before the registry edit. So, I don't know if your registry edit added it or if Windows update added it.

I tried deleting your registry edit, but it keeps coming back if I enable the feature. So, it seems like your registry edit and the official feature are perhaps the same.

Also, my lock screen is still showing seconds (static, not real-time) regardless if the featured is enabled or not.

It was most likely the update that added the feature. The options will only change the setting if the feature is already available.

The setting in Settings makes the same changes in the registry. Both options are just different ways to change the same setting.

Is it normal to have the seconds on the lock screen? And for them to be static? If not, do you know how to remove it?

Edit: Never mind. I accidentally had the short time set to h:mm:ss tt :-)

Hello,
Something weird is happening to me.

After installing Win 11 last year, I immediately applied the REG hack to show seconds in clock, just to discover MS disabled the feature.
Anyway, I left the reg key there, with 1 as the value.

After updating to 22661.1702, the clock suddenly started showing seconds. Yay!

Today I've updated to .1778 though, and seconds are now gone!
On top of that, I have no option in the Taskbar behavior to "show seconds".

Removing the reg key, rebooting, adding it again and so on didn't fix it.

Any idea?
Thank you

That happened to several people here with the 1778 build, luckily mine remained. The same happened to me on my previous beta build however but the good news was the latest beta build restored the seconds as well as the on/off switch so you should be getting them back in a later release.

@Gobbo

Fret not. The updates lately have not been identical in their effects, even with the same build numbers. As @FrancoDT said, it will all even out eventually.

One thing you might try is leaving the Brink reg fix in place, and then going in to Windows Update and moving the slider of Get the latest updates ... to ON, then checking for updates. Then, after the checking finishes, reboot and see whether you've got the "seconds" feature in both the clock and the taskbar settings. Several people here have reported that all of the expected features only emerged when they had gone through this drill.

If you don't have the "Get the latest" switch, then you'll just have to be patient until MS makes up its feeble mind.

That happened to several people here with the 1778 build (...) you should be getting them back in a later release.
@Gobbo

@FrancoDT @Wisewiz Okay, that makes sense! Thank you guys!

I do have said switch but I would never turn that on :eek1:. I will patiently wait, much safer eheh!

Hello,
Something weird is happening to me.

Any idea?
Thank you
Weird. The same happened to me (same build, no seconds, no option) but after removing the reg key in question and rebooting the option in the Taskbar Behavior appeared. (Created the account just for this reply lol)
