"Turn on Virus Protection" Notification pops up after reboot


I don't have any 3rd party security software installed and never had, like stated above. Also, i don't remember changing anything in my PC or installing anything even remotely related to this during the days when the bug appeared.

However, my manufacturer recently updated BIOS, so it might be related, but then it's also related to that Certificate Enroll error which i get with server 400 code. I also checked that in my BIOS secure boot was set to "custom" for some reason, and offered me to restore keys etc. options. I changed it to standard, locked all those tricky options. So I guess now it should be handled automatically. The system booted normally with "standard" option, but i still got the notification and also still get that "Protocol AIK certificate request error". However, standard Microsoft Support is only limited to "let's try uninstall your system" or "let's check your PC for viruses". I tried showing them Event Viewer error logs, but they didn't understand that.

Fun fact that this notification popped again the first second when I downloaded Chrome installer from Edge... might be just a coincidence or whatever.. just my observations

"Seems" might the key word here. It gets fixed until the first few reboots, then appears again. At least on my PC.

Just to let you know, it's not just you. I've started noticing the same issues yesterday. I don't have, nor have used a third AV since leaving XP. But yeah, I'm getting the same issues and why I looked here to see if there are others were getting the same. Seems I'm not alone as well.

I'm just chalking it up to a bad file from a AV update somewhere as I have zero issues with sans. Await the next AV update.

I've started getting the erroneous "Turn on Virus protection" message again on my RP build 26200.9267. Someone had posted that it was due to the two registry settings shown in the attached screen shot being part of a beta version of Defender being tested on some machines. Some have the issue and some don't. It will occur one time a few minutes after you boot or reboot your machine.

Either way you may want to check for the two registry keys I posted to see if you have them. MpCampRing and MpEnigineRing. Those are not in my two other machines (beta builds) and they don't get the erroneous virus warning. The Release Preview build I posted has those two keys and gets the warning.

I run 23H2 and I get it there and on my 25H2 machines. I think it might have come in an update to virus scanner.
Never ever have used other virus software on any of mine.
I don't have those entries in my registry on 23H2

Same problem on 25H2. Just started yesterday.
Using defender and no other anti virus had ever been installed. Using adguard but that was insalled for over 1 year...
Did a full defender scan and offline scan, says its clean...

This is a known Microsoft Defender notification bug you can disable notifications or enable Do Not Disturb to not to view the this notification i'm sure it will be fix soon.

This happened to me yesterday on both PCs after this weeks update. I did a web search this seems to be a widesread problem at the moment. Blame lousy MS software engineering.
