Unable to change password - where is the problem?

OS
Windows 11
So I access Windows 11 using a Microsoft Account, not a local account.
If I try to add an additional method to login (like Windows Hello Pin) it asks for my "current password" before I can proceed, but the MS account one isn't working.
Likewise if I try to change my password, it asks me for the current one first, but the MS account one isn't working.
Last but not least, if I somehow activate the screen lock, the MS account pwd isn't working.

So... considering I'm accessing with a MS account and not a local one, what exactly is going on here?

Yeah what's confusing me is that appearently in addition to my Microsoft Account I seem to have another Local Account with the same name and same picture.
But I'm currently logged in to my Microsoft Account though, not my local one. I mean I can understand that the local one is pwd protected and has a different pwd so I can only reset it through admin rights (or using the current local pwd), but I'm CURRENTLY logged in through my MS account, so if I go to the lock screen it should ask me for my MS account pwd to get through the lock screen, not the local account one.
It either makes no sense or I'm missing something here!

How important is the Local account to you?
Sorry about the tutorial dump, but they’re kind of all interconnected.

Sort out your Microsoft account (Make sure it’s the right account before removing one):

Remove the local account:

Add a new local User account to Windows 11:

Make account an Administrators or User account if you like:

And/Or switch it to a Microsoft account if you like:

Or switch the Microsoft to a Local account

How important is the Local account to you?
Not important at all.
To be fair, and I'll admit this is entirely my fault, I didn't even know/remember I had one until today I accidentally activated the lock screen and found out my MS account pwd wasn't working on it.
I still managed to get past through it because I remembered the local account pwd but it still stands that this local account is of no use to me, afaik.
Furthermore I'm puzzled by the fact that Settings > Account > says I'm currently logged in on my MS account, yet the lock screen, blah blah.

Anyway, whatever, thanks for the tutorial dump, I'm gonna read em all and hopefully I'm gonna normalize my current odd situation.

Ok, thanks to antpants I found out what's happening and now everything makes sense.
I only knew the difference between "Microsoft Account" and "Local Account".
I was completely missing there's a third scenario: "Local account connected to a Microsoft Account" and this is exactly my case, and now everything makes perfect sense.

Thanks once more to antspants!
