Where does your User folder reside? If it is on your C drive, I would not think your files on other drives would be affected. But, if the other drives are partitions of the main drive, I'd be careful not to prompt any formatting of the main drive or you're apt to lose everything. If you haven't made a backup, I highly recommend doing this first and maintaining a regular back up. I can't tell you how many times I've had customers lose their important data because they do not heed to frequent back ups of their system and data.

Yes its an old game with a hack, Does uninstalling the game helps for the Windows defender to come back??
Unlikely. If you've got malware: 1) It's your own fault for trying to obtain software illegally and 2) I have ZERO sympathy for you. NONE.

Hi there

@Revanth_Kanti

A bit of a get around but this is an all windows solution that might work. Not as complicated as it looks BTW.
1) create a Windows clean system (don't install any thing on it) as a vhdx file.
2) boot into it and note the disk letter of the "Bad" Windows.
3) On your fresh system start windows defender and choose run custom scan
4) select the root level of the bad windows disk e.g D:\

This should find any malware etc on the "D" disk -- sometimes it's not possible for Windows defender or other virus software to totally clean a "Running" process -- this method works as if the D disk is just another bog standard device.

If it finds anything choose the remove option.

I have a copy of W11 on an old external 64GB SSD for this very purpose just in case I have to treat an infected machine. I added Macrium (Free version) just in case I have to mess around with imaging disks. As far as AV software is concerned WD is pretty good -- if it can't get rid of something then time to wipe the entire machine and be careful what you install and where you install it from.

For example I suspect that there might be some malware on the Windows system on device G. So I boot my "Rescue" Windows and run a complete scan for Device G. Will take a while for an average W11 system.

An alternative to a clean install is use a third party AV, Bitdefender free has a good reputation, Bitdefender Free Antivirus for Windows - Download Software
It's a workaround.
I doubt these days if any AV program will find something if WD can't. WD these days is built from the military strength approved from Ms's AZURE cloud server which is one of the most secure anywhere.

No harm in trying - but again the problems with running a tool on an active system will generally not find threats in processes actually running if the malware is "well written". (Sic ?)

Some processes can start up before WD has started too so that's another issue in using a running system.

Think of a defective plane -- would you repair it in the air or on the ground in the hangar. As a regular private pilot I'd know what I'd choose. !!!

Hi there
You are more or less saying the same thing as me -- run whatever AV system you think will work not under the main HOST (W11) OS control. I'm not sure that eset or anything else would be as good as WD running from an other windows and scanning the drive as a "Data disk". But whatever works -- there's usually more than 1 solution. I think the OP wel;comes suggestions from any quarter.

All I can say that running the scan my way cleaned an infected machine of that notoriously difficult piece of malware to get rid of : MSIL perseus and about 3 other nasty ones which usually came up with message "Remdiation incomplete".

Now on that machine WD shows 100% Green instead of red flagging stuff every 10 mins or so.

From its history -- I had to logon as administrator -- not sure how KMS stuff got into this young kids system but who knows -- you can't make computers "Kid proof" yet it seems. !!!!!

Anyway all fixed and cleansed. 100% Windows without 3rd party stuff.

Its a vanilla system now only has chrome and firefox installed thats it

So after installation my Windows defender and secutity is fine , but there its showing two threats that i choose to remove and clean threat
