Have a HP Z laptop with new Win 11 installed. Also have 2 older PCs, desktop & laptop both running Win 10.
Trying to get W11 to have the same access to desktop Wi10 as current W10 laptop.
In Network and Sharing Centre:
Private - Turn on Network Discovery, Turn on file and printer sharing
Public - Turn on Network Discovery, Turn on file and printer sharing
All networks - Turn off public folder sharing, Use 128-bit encryption, Turn off password protected sharing
Desktop W10 has C: and D: drives networked.
Drive C: on both W11 and W10 laptops have been shared.
Main data folder (My stuff) on both W11 and W10 laptops have been shared.
From both desktop W10 and laptop W10 I can open My Stuff on W11 laptop and copy files to it. But I cannot open C: "Windows cannot access... You do not have permissions"
From desktop W10 I can open C: on W10 laptop, create and delete files there.
From W11 laptop in Explorer/Network I can see the W10 laptop but only as a media device, not as a computer. I cannot see the desktop W10 at all. Nor can I access the desktop's networked drives.
Possibly relevant, from W10 laptop the W10 desktop is not shown in Explorer/Network. However it can see and access the networked drives/folders on the desktop.
Any thoughts or help gratefully received.
