Mixed Reality Uninstall Windows Mixed Reality in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to uninstall Windows Mixed Reality for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Windows Mixed Reality is the first spatial operating system. Instead of using a flat screen and a 2D interface, it uses our instinctual ability to navigate three-dimensional space. Every place has a purpose, and content has context. Just as your PC starts at the desktop interface and your phone begins with a home screen, Windows Mixed Reality starts at the Mixed Reality home. It's an environment that you can navigate and personalize to make your own. It's the canvas for the thousands of apps available in the Microsoft Store or SteamVR. You can multitask with these apps like never before--in 3D where space is almost limitless.

If Windows Mixed Reality isn't running well, or if you want to free up some disk space, you can uninstall it. Your user info will be removed when uninstalling, but your mixed reality apps will remain on your PC.

When you uninstall Windows Mixed Reality, it will remove the Mixed reality page on Settings.

Windows Mixed Reality is deprecated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. This deprecation includes the Mixed Reality Portal app, and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR and Steam VR Beta.

Here's How:

1 Disconnect your headset from your PC, and close the Mixed Reality Portal app.

2 Open Settings (Win+i).

3 Click/tap on Mixed reality on the left side, and click/tap on Uninstall on the right side. (see screenshot below)


4 Click/tap on Uninstall. (see screenshot below)


5 Click/tap on Next to confirm. (see screenshot below)


6 When ready, click/tap on Restart now to restart the computer to finish uninstalling Windows Mixed Reality. (see screenshot below)
