Unusual mouse lag despite low CPU and RAM usage

Hey, I know this thread is old but I'm having the exact same issue as you. Today I ran the Intel processor diagnostic tool and memtest64, both worked perfectly fine with no mouse stuttering. For the sake of it I got Crystalmark disk benchmark, low and behold my mouse looking like a teleportation device throughout the entire test and back to normal at the end. I've switched my two nvme SSDs around to see if being direct to CPU or Chipset would make a difference but nothing. Might be worth getting that and trying it on your system if you still have this issue! My drive is a 2tb Crucial P5 plus and relatively new, it was a fresh Windows install so I have no idea where to go with it, but of all the tests that got it to replicate the problem, Crystaldisk Crystalmark was the one. Wondering if this is was ever resolved, as I am experiencing the same mouse lag issue and also lag with keyboard strokes.

It seems to be occuring mostly when I am downloading large files.

Any tips?

Do you have any external HDDs or USB drives plugged into the machine?

Is the mouse/KB dongle close enough to the Mouse/KB, or does moving them closer have no effect?

I see interference(stuttering mouse/kb) on USB busses all the time for wireless mice and keyboards when using USB storage devices, its becoming more and more of a problem tbh

Ran all diagnostics suggested, and even looked at updated bios (high-performance 13th gen i7 @4.9GHz laptop less than 1 month old), and updated drivers. No avail. Using Taragus dual 4K USB docking station, and all ok until 2 days ago, with no changes that I have noticed. Then started stuttering, momentarily hanging and generally degrading any ability to use the system effectively. It was performing in exactly the same way as my prior laptop did (also i7/ssd, etc) after a couple months. I replaced it with this system just to get the performance up! Never figured out what the problem was there, but seemed to be exaggerated with zoom running, as this one did too. However, THIS time, I tried moving the mouse dongle around. It was flawed when running on my Targus USB dock (to use 3 monitors plugged into usb-c at laptop) , and likewise when plugged into my attached 7-port usb3 hub plugged into usb 3.0 on laptop. However, upon plugging into one of the 3.1 ports on the laptop itself....no lag. No idea WHY. No great fix. However if this is an issue for anyone, moving the usb access point for your wireless mouse might just save a LOT of aggravation!

If you are reading this thread because you have the same problem try moving the mouse to a different USB. I have a logitech wireless mouse and it was plugged into a USB hub.. When I moved it to a port on it's own the lag went away. In my case the lag was intermittent
