Hi folks
The latest Windows insider update from 25300.1000 fails because it does a check and bombs out with message "This PC can't run W11 -- cannot update on to a USB device".
Is there any way of "poodlefaking" the Windows so that Windows thinks it's on an internal disk. I've tried updating both via a basic USB and one where windows installed on a vhdx file.
I know I can do it by cloning the system to a VM, updating and then cloning back again -- I have all the W11 physical drivers on a file so those where necessary can be easily installed again -- but if I could avoid the VM steps it would be a lot better. I don't want to copy the W11 system to a laptop's internal HDD to do the update either as I then have to backup and re-install existing OS.
Cheers
