Solved Update installed already but windows version no not changing

I've alreaDY installed Security Update for Windows (KB5121003) via catalog, but version no not changed, as well as I keep getting 2026-08 Security Update (KB5121003) (26200.9168) in updates, it's very annoying

Open command prompt as administrator. Is your version 25h2 26200.9168 there? If it is not, then the update has not been applied.
Is your machine waiting for a restart?

The updates are cumulative, so any changes from August will roll forward.

However, you may want to wait a little on the September updates.

If there are any major issues, you will be right in the middle of it.

If you decide to move forward, do a drive image first.

I tried today's update manually from catalog but got was not installed, then I tried direct from update settings page but now I'm getting Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)

I looked at your old threads. It seems you have posted about a number of problems you encountered but never responded back that if any of them were ever fixed. We ask specific questions which you never answer.
Neither do you give any specs about the system in question. Are you experiencing this problem in the 15 year old Dell you mentioned once in another thread. Then once you referred to a "new" laptop. Or is it a different system?

IMO without more specific information we are just guessing and can give only general answers.

General WINDOWS UPDATE Issues things to try

1. Run troubleshooter-settings-system-troubleshoot-other troubleshooters-windows update-RUN.

2. Reset Windows update using Brink's tutorial Reset Windows Update in Windows 11 Tutorial

3. Open command prompt as administrator. Enter this command.
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When complete, Restart computer

Then open command prompt as admin again and run sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair

4. CLEAN UP COMPONENT STORE - dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
Analyze and Clean Up Component Store (WinSxS folder) in Windows 11 Tutorial

5. Do a repair install. This usually works when nothing else will. Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

I had a similar issue, I was at Windows 11 25H2 version 26200.9168 and installing the previous update for 26200.9278 failed. See this thread how I solved it and updated to 26200.9445 skipping version 26200.9278. Hopefully you can fix it too and avoid a time consuming and risky in-place upgrade/repair.

T minus 11.5 hours until the patch Tuesday updates release

For 26H2 there was no Setup Dynamic Update or Safe OS Dynamic Update like there was for 25H2 but there was a .NET update and the Cumulative Update. I created an ISO with the available updates and that seemed to work perfectly for a clean install both manually and unattended.
