Hi, Have just purchased a new laptop with windows 11 home installed from a well known shop, I have also purchased windows 11 pro , my question is can I install it over the home and still keep my office 2019 pro+ etc or will I have to reinstall everything?

Thanks for any help/advice

Thanks for your reply, But I had to download a Iso file from Microsoft and install from that, will that overwrite everything?

If you reinstall 11 pro yes.. you'll likely lose everything but if you just change the product key you should keep everything.

Thanks, here what it said when I downloaded it.

Installation instructions (ISO):

  1. If you want to install Windows 11 directly from the ISO file without using a DVD or USB flash drive, you can do so by mounting the ISO file. This will perform an upgrade of your current operating system to Windows 11.
  2. To mount the ISO file:
    • Go to the location where you downloaded the ISO file to. Then right-click the ISO file and select Properties.
    • On the "General" tab, click "Change…" where it says, “Opens with:”, and select Windows Explorer for the program you would like to use to open ISO files and select Apply.
    • Right-click the ISO file and select Mount.
    • This will create a “virtual” bootable disc. Double-click on it to view the files within. Double-click setup.exe to start the Windows 11 setup process,


    • so I thought I would be okay, just wanted to make sure....

I thought you had 11 home on the PC already? If you do all you need to do is change the product key and it will update to the pro version and install the new features. If you don't have 11 but 10 you need to install 11.

All it does is look at your system and download any missing components..... Do a backup first
