...on network. Although this one shows the others' icons in "Network" in File Manager.
This has also stopped "Flow" working in Logi Options+" (it's keyboard and mouse controller software from Logitech) on all three computers
W11 also keeps wittering on about it's firewall not being on.
It's driving me mad !

I've tried an W11 in place repair (basically reinstall in place), the file integrity scan now etc, checked all network connections etc
This was working perfectly with this machine on W10 and the other two on W11

A workaround...
  • Open File Explorer.
  • In the address bar, type the following: \\computername (replace "computername" with the name of the computer you're connecting to).
  • Press Enter.
  • Note: You can also use ip address in address bar
  • Whichever of these methods allows you to get to the other machine, create a shortcut to it on desktop, and pin that shortcut to quick access. You can then delete the shortcut from desktop.
CREATE A WINDOWS CREDENTIAL

Create a Windows credential for an account & password on both client and server computers you are sharing files between.

To create a credential:
Go to Control Panel>Credentials> Windows Credentials>add a windows credential

In the "Internet or network address" box, type the name of the computer on the network that you want to access.
In the User name and Password boxes, type the user name and password that you use for that computer, and then click OK.
Note: It must be a password, not a pin. Even if both computers are using the same a MS account, you still need to create credentials on both for the other machine.

Note: Each computer should have a credential each of the other computers.

Thanks,
I really need to find out what's messing up the firewall, network, and Logi Options + (particularly Flow) first though.
Also, the last time I upgraded to 25H2, I had text box bugs and more.

I've downloaded the latest bios for the Asus PRIME X299-A II (LGA 2066 R4) mobo, and latest drivers to see if it makes a difference.

I'm currently backing the drive up again, as there were some additions, so it will probably be tomorrow before I try again.

really need to find out what's messing up the firewall, network,
That solution normally works for the network problem. You can't always rely on the network map.

Well, the Bios upgrade adventure was a bust.
Bios was successful, but seems to have taken my Presonus Quantum 2626 out, along with it's thunderbolt 3 drivers (I run it off a Titan Ridge header card)
It's possible the bios settings are now different as far as the Thunderbolt option goes. There seem to be a lot more.
I usually just OK the enable option, and the level one security option, but there are a lot more options which I just left as was.

So I'd better high tail it back to the Windows TEN forum, to see if I can possibly sort this, and return to this later.

Just to top and tail the thread:

Gave up and did a clean install sans interface and TB3 card.
I'll probably just sell this, as I have my newer Scan build now.

However, I'll need to start a new thread for that to find the TB drivers for that board
