Solved Upgrading 22H2 to 24H2

I have a question....
A friend of mine loaded windows 22H2 on my computer bypassing the requirements, I think I had everything needed except TPM (whatever that is), the installation has been activated via a digital licence, but my question is, is it possible to upgrade to a later windows version (24H2) and still keep the digital licence? Please bear in mind that Im not tech savvy so if it is possible, how do I do it.

I would suggest knowing how to make a system image (backup) of your current setup before you proceed. But that's a whole other thread.

I don't know about other software anymore.

But you'll need a secondary or external drive with ample space available to save a image/backup to.

I'm finding Hasleo suits me now.

A 500GB or 1TB secondary internal or external drive would be good.
Assuming your OS as it is, is between 60 to 120GB or more (or possibly even less)

Lots of questions spring to mind...
Is macrium reflect better than Hasleo - whatever the answer is where do I get them?
I have used Macrium is the distant distant past so I knows it works but since its been a while I wouldn't know where to start.
If my operating system is a certain size Like 120gb (I have no idea how to check my actual size) why do I need such a large external drive to create the image?
I understand the concept of (you must figure out what to do to help yourself) but I have no idea where to start, all I know it that I want 24H2 (or the latest) and I want it to be activated when Im finished.

Well I just went to explorer and got the properties of the windows directory on C - counted up to 22.4 gb

That’s pretty small, congrats

Are you sure that’s right though?
Right click on your Start Menu button and select Disk Management.
Can you take a screenshot?

I pretty much lay out Hasleo basic backup process from start to finish in the link I posted. If you want to help yourself, looking at that page is a good start.

Be careful what you wish for. There are complaints & hiccups all over this forum.

If your Windows 11 is currently activated, 24H2 will still be activated via your Microsoft digital licence automatically.

First things first, back up your system (important) then come back for help with install/upgrade.

There are more users of Macrium than there are Hasleo in this forum.

Unless my Math is wrong, because the way I am feeling this week it could be, that means you’ve basically got a 395GB operating system. Just a bit above 22.4GB

But most of it is other files and documents I made with microsoft office, etc, also photos, videos, etc. downloads,,,,, all of that is not part of the OS

When you make a system image, it backs up the entire C Drive. And the partitions to the left and right of it.

First... make a backup of your Disk 0, and save that backup on Disk 2.
Then... you'll need to upgrade to 23H2, before you can upgrade to 24H2.

Fortunately... that's really easy with the "23H2 Enablement Package".

Then... (if you have room), on your C:\ partition, you can do an In-Place Upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2, if Windows Update doesn't offer it to you.

Again. I’d advise you to skip 24H2 for now.
I’d also advise you to use Macrium, you’ll get more help with it in this forum. There is still a free version apparently, somewhere
