3 new laptops LG (posting for a friend only) from Costco, (just this week) 100% new, and nothing ever done to them at all ,clean. (as sold by LG)
all 3 fail the same way (well a visual nuisance sure) not me him, I'd run Ubuntu .
w11 and today current Microsoft full updates (done and happy)
the problem is called echo or ghosted drives
If we insert any of 10 usb memories in any of the 2 usb slots
we get D: D: drives. 2 drives for 1, and both
Disk manager shows 1 drive only. so is only windows explorer messing up.
my guess wild is (untouched by me , just a phone call to me)
one drive is doing that
or VFD is installed by VFD
or cloud features turned on , causing Echo D: drives.
or? USB is hub hardware and the hub does that and no cure? ouch if true.
what do the w11 experts think.? (I have no w11 here to prove my theories)
the friend will not hack the registry,. gee its under warranty and the makers called 3 times, have no clue/cure at all, and said "do an exchange" so did that 3 times and 3 fail.

we get

D data is D on both
and E is E, not E to D mix.
we even erased a new stick formatted it clean to NTFS and still fails.
new USB drives (flash sticKs) used top brand SANDISK 3GB up.
and used too sticks, all fail the same way regardless of format Fat32, or NTFS

the pairs each show matching file. but not D to E:
must bea bug,
or One drive
or VFD problems.
or the silly laptop is a HUB format on the 2 ports. (has only 2 USB ports)
unknown , this is 3rd LG GRAM from Costco all 3 do it.
and many USB memory sticks to that.
new or used, even erased and set as NTFS. formatted.
