Hello All

Previously used Location tab in Library properties to move my most used User Folders as had issues using unattended answer file long time ago on my Windows 10 based Systems, so now just use location option. but starting to wonder if i decide to let Windows update upgrade my cleanish Windows 11 install to 22H2 this time, will i run into any issues?

Or is it best to do a clean install when 22H2 launches? I don't mind really if i have to go second way

22H2 will be just another windows update. Any custom user folder locations should not be affected.

personally, i do clean installs every year or so anyway. so, i definitely go with clean installs for major updates like that. can't say if you'll have issues going the upgrade route, but i did have issues with my user folder after taking the win10 creators update whenever that was.

Oh ok, Well guess will decide when its time which way i wanna go at that time. Still may go for clean install way in lieu of letting Windows Update install it as originally planned. Though did a clean install not too long ago since had issue with bluetooth that had no choice but to do one

You could simply return the location changes back to defaults for the update, then when things seem to be working right re locate the folders again using the Location tab.
A simpler method (from a backing up, management point of view) would be to create your folder structure elsewhere the way you want, then just set, train, each applications default action to save in the new location, normally just opening a file in each app and choosing 'save as' then choosing your path is sufficient. Some apps have configurable file paths to make the process easier.
The only drawbacks to the method I outline are that Windows 'library' feature becomes somewhat redundant and some apps insist on using the Windows default folders for certain files regardless, mainly user config files, but the benefits I feel out way any drawbacks.

Yeah originally moved the Location to limit writes to my C: M.2 SSD, and previously my Sata Boot SSD when i had that as boot drive. Simple enough though to move them back to Default if i choose to do upgrade method, and then decide if i wanna reconfigure same way i have it now. Or just set new folders on Storage drive for the files
