Using JASC Paint Shop Pro 9 on Win 11 - Problem when exiting

I installed my old version of JASC Paint Shop Pro 9 on my new Win 11 computer.
The program works well - no problems using it. However, after checking the Win 11 performance monitor, I notice an error has been recorder after exiting PSP.
I totally clear Performance Monitor, and the problem reappears every time I exit PSP (note that the program always works).

Any ideas about how to fix this would be appreciated.

You have to update to Corel Paintshop Pro.

This isn't unusual while trying to use old software on a newer version of Windows. The error looks like an access denied. Just a guess but the old app probably isn't aware of UAC

Since version 9 works fine (at least all the functions I've used all these years), I can't justify upgrading. And, in fact, somewhere on this forum in another thread (which I can't find again), I recall comments about Corel PSP not being nearly as good as JASC PSP.

So (until and unless) someone has a better suggestion, I think I'll stick with this version, and periodically clear the performance monitor.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

Use one of these, they all work flawlessly. Follow the install directions...





Use REVO Uninstaller (free) to remove the version you're running now.



Make sure you do the.. "Scan" for leftovers and delete all that stuff too.

Here's some other things that you may find useful...

You can install 8.1 and not have this issue.
9.1 has the same issue as 9.
I have both on cd and settled on 8.1 because of this issue.

The issue is not present on the version I linked above.

It is present on 9.1 but not 8.1 or earlier as I have tested it.
I installed 9.1 and had the same event in event viewer so uninstalled and went to 8.1 which did not have this issue.

This DLL was added to 9 which is not in previous versions.

That could be. As I have UAC turned off.
I also have Smart App Control disabled.

Further, I uninstalled all the MS image handling apps as well.

Ghot, Thank you for your replies. I'm particularly interested in a good comlete disk backup program. For my win 7 computers, I'm currently using Acronis True Image. I do not install this on my computer. Acronis allows me to make an independent boot disk from which I can run the backup program independently, and I backup to an external hard drive. This allows me to do my backups without relying on anything installed on my computer.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to contact anyone at Acronis to determine if this program (or a later version of it) will work the same way with WIN 11.
Do you know if this (or any of the other backup programs you mention) can be operated in this manner?

All these have the ability to create bootable rescue media... and I know Macrium can even create boot entries.
I still use Macrium Reflect 8.1.xxxx
There's even a link for the free version of Macrium 8.x.xxxx
