Hi Guys,

I have been using multiple email addresses for years on a domain that I own and will be removed, but now need to set up similar on gmail. I have looked at the help pages but think that I may need to set up extra accounts to do this. I would prefer to add them under my existing account is possible but am confused as to what I need to do.

Sorry if it obvious to many but age has crept up on me and things I could do before are not so clear now. So if anyone cam simplify this for me I will be grateful.

I have a couple of Gmail accounts, but I only really monitor one of them. It gets no email or spam, so it's pretty stagnant. It's an OK email service but I don't use it very much.

However, I also have Yahoo email accounts and can easily manage multiple accounts in a single browser tab. Specifically, I use Y!Mail+, which is a paid service ($5.00 per month). I have been using it for a couple of years now. It's very easy to switch between email accounts. I keep it open all the time. I also use the associated Calendar function. I really like it's spam filter. It regularly filters out spam and strips any images and links. I can then add the sender to a list of blocked addresses (1,000 max). Then you never see them again.

Doesn't your domain provider have an alternative email service they're offering?

You can use a service like Titan Mail with any domain account. They have a free and paid service. I use a paid Titan account and I have as many aliases as I like. They all in the format of [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]. You can access the email using the web interface or with a 3rd party email client. I use Thunderbird for my email.

Thanks to all who responded. The reason why I need these aliases is that I will probably be selling my domains that I own atm due to not wanting to continue with them anymore. One I have used for extensive family history research and recording, and the other for a local history site that was heavily scraped for content. When I sell the domains I will not need a web host, so mail to and from those domains will not be possible.

I have read your suggestions and will be checking out Titan Mail and Yahoo (had an account with them years ago but had so many problems). Another option is to use the mail service with my isp, that assumes that I will stay with them long term, who knows? Google Workspace is not in the running for me.

Anyway thanks again, I'll let you know what I decide.

The reason I went with my own domain and email was so if I changed ISP companies I wouldn't have to change all my email addresses. I'll take my permanent email addresses to the grave with me. :p

Establishing a new domain name is not expensive, I'm using Hosting.com, it's around $25/yr for the basic domain. The Titan email is another couple bucks.

Thanks for that, I have 2 domains still and was thinking of getting rid of them. I have signed up again to Yahoo well myyahoo but although I use Thunderbird for emails I'm still not sure. Of course I'll have to have a think about cancelling the hosting of 1 domain and just keep the other for the email access. The point is I have a lot of address like you and it would be a pain fixing all those. I have used https://krystal.io/ for many years, great company have a great spam checking system that gives me a report that I can act upon each day. Hmm time to reconsider.

If you have a domain and there's not a burning reason to give it up, I'd just go that way. I actually recently nuked my Yahoo email address, too much SPAM. I have a few Google addresses, a GMX address, and of course, many purpose intended domain email addresses. Between Titan mail and Thunderbird SPAM filtering, I see almost no garbage that gets through. Surprisingly, Google has decent SPAM filtering for the most part as well.
