Solved Video Driver Uninstall causing NVMe slowdown?

I recently uninstalled my video driver using DDU and afterwards my WD SN850X 1TB performance slowed down about 25%. I'm very confused by this behavior. I did a reinstall of Windows and the NVMe performance was back. Then an AMD driver update and the same loss of NVMe performance happened again. Does anyone have insight why a Video Driver uninstall would slow down the performance of a NVMe drive or how to fix it without a reinstall of Windows.

Looking at your specs all I can think of is that for some reason the NVME lanes and/ or link speed are being reduced/ limited. Is there some setting in the BIOS to force a link speed for the NVME or is it set to auto, or no setting available?
I beleive any such setting might be under PCIe configuration/ PCH configuration or similar headings.

It has something to do with Windows 11 and uninstalling the video driver... the BIOS settings didn't change. I ran DDU to uninstall the video driver and afterwards my NVMe drive lost at least 25% of its speed. I've tried to reinstall chipset drivers, didn't help at all. I have a new video card coming next week, I suppose I'll need to reinstall Windows after I put it in unless I can isolate the culprit for the NVMe drive speed loss.

Yes, I understand it was due to uninstalling the video driver, however there is a connection between Windows, BIOS, drivers and resource allocation.
I was not suggesting a BIOS setting was changed, I was asking if there is a way to check/ force a link speed for the NVME to perhaps prevent any behind the scenes resource allocation being altered when the video driver is uninstalled to see if that helps in determining what the issue is.

Can't think of any correlation between an nVme SSD and GPU (there's no common dominator - not files or settings they share). Seems more like a coincidence - or some bug with Windows or DDU.

That being said - I see you're using Build 22624.1391 of Windows - which is an "Insider build (Beta testing - as in - you get access to latest/future features - yet there's more room for bugs - since it's not widely tested yet)".
Latest stable (or at least more stable than beta builds) Windows build is 22621.1344. Try the stable builds instead - see if you have any issues with that.

Last but not least - yes, DDU is usually recommended for in-depth cleaning of GPU or Audio drivers - but it's not mandatory. Most of the times it's enough to - use the option that comes with the driver installer (just Check the "Factory Reset" option - while installing the drivers). There's even a dedicated tool made by AMD - for external in-depth cleaning (similar to DDU) - as in: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

That being said if you suspect DDU of causing issues - don't use it.

It’s perplexing for sure… I have my BIOS set at PCIe 4 for the M.2 drives. My original install was 22621.1344. It’s very possible the Beta build is the root cause of the issue. I did notice some NVMe performance loss after I installed 22624.1344. It wasn’t much, but noticeable. I used to run the DEV Channel builds, I stopping using them as for me these versions are quite unstable of late. Perhaps, some of this instability has made into the Beta channel. Anyhow, I’ll reinstall Windows when I get my new Video card next week. That should fix the problem.

It seem Windows Insiders builds Beta and Dev are the culprits for the NVMe slowdown… and nothing to do with DDU or the video drivers. Build 22621.1344 runs just fine. I hope whatever is slowing down the NVMe drive speed doesn’t appear in a future update.
