System View Display Information in Windows 11

Windows 11 makes is easy to view display information about your built-in display or connected monitor(s).

This tutorial will show you how to view information about displays in Windows 11.


Here's How:

1 Open Settings (Win+I).

2 Click/tap on System on the left side, and click/tap on Display on the right side. (see screenshot below)

3 Click/tap on Advanced display. (see screenshot below)

4 If you have more than one display, select the display you want to apply this to in the drop menu. (see screenshot below step 5)

5 You will now see the available Display information below for the selected display. (see screenshots below)

Display Information​
Description​
Desktop modeShows screen resolution and refresh rate mode.
Active signal modeSpecifies the current screen resolution and refresh rate used by the system.
Bit depthNumber of bits the display can use to represent each pixel of an image.
Color formatShows the color format (ex: RGB) currently used.
Color spaceSpecifies if display is using Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) or High Dynamic Range (HDR).
HDR certificationIf display doesn’t show as certified (it says Not found), it might be because it doesn’t have an HDR certification, or the display manufacturer hasn’t published HDR certification information for your display. To find out if your display is HDR certified, visit the device manufacturer’s website.
Peak brightnessMaximum brightness level in nits.
