ok i would like to know if win11 has now the ability to show photos in explorer so that i can pick the sort order and icon size and always have that be the same every time i connect my camera to the pc? also the view of them?

when i connect my samsung a51 to my pc using win11 23h2 and i think i will soon get 24h2 as my other pc now has it. anyway what i would like is when i plug in my phone to have the sort order be descending and the view to be extra large icons. so even if i need to go into the settings back pages to get this to happen.

so can i do this? thanks

ok i got the min.setup and it did show the a51 but it will not let me see anything i click on a51 nothing so i opened all the subfolders and got to the thumbs and it still will not let me see those. so did i get the wrong app?

No... XnView is for handling photos that are on your computer.
For example... this is a folder called Tech Pics on my storage drive...
I can resize the icons to whatever I want, batch rename, etc.
I can use XnView to looks at any pics on my comp.

96 x 72 pixels for the thumbnails.......................... 192 x 144 thumbnails size

You'll have a folder TREE on the left, for your whole comp..
To see the folder TREE, click the button in the RED box...

XnView, always opens, just like you left it the last time you used it.
I can't see the pics on my A54, but if I move them to a folder on my computer... I can see them.

It's not a perfect solution, but it does quite a bit.
I would just make a folder on your storage drive, and dump all your A51 pics, in there.
You can still use File Explorer to view the pics while they're still ON the phone.

i do not need help with opening photos that are on my pc. i'm looking for a way to open them in descending order and extra large icon when i connect my a51 phone to the pc. after they are on my pc the go into the correct folders. i pick the icons and copy them into the folders they are for. so is there a way to force explorer to always use descending order and to use extra large icons every time i connect my phone to the pc? win10 could not be forced into this so i was hoping win11 would have fixed that issue

I don't think there is.
@Edwin might know.
I think he has an A53 or A54, and he's been using smart phones for a lot longer than me.
I pretty much a smart phone noob.

ok thanks maybe he will have a fix. if not i will just have to keep doing it the hard way.

i have a niokia 10 and that phone will not even show icons when i connect to it it shows thumbs and then i have to copy a bunch of then to a folder and then go to that folder to find the photos i want to save. it is a pain. so i may try connecting that phone to the xnview app and see if that app will let me click on the phone and open icons the first time. to save all that work. thanks

ok i connected the nokia and it does the same thing in xnview i can't see any icons going all the way to photos on the phone. so back in the drawer for the nokia

Yeah... I'm an unreconstructed barbarian, I just handle all that stuff on my storage drive.

ok i may have to get me a a35. i take tons of photos like this past month they set a modular home in by me and i took photos every day to document that for the new owner. and i do tons of repairs for folks and i take photos to not only document it but for reassembly of the items or to show others if i need help fixing that part.

anyway when i connect my a51 i click the a51 then the sd card because it has fewer photos so it is easier to get them in explorer so then i click dcim and camera after they populate i have to every stinking time go to sort order to get the last one to the top and them click every time to get larger icons so i can see them better.

so if your a35 does this and has a good camera. my a51 has a great camera then i will look for one. i will go into the phone app i have and do a comparison on that a35 to see thanks

It's File Explorer's view settings, right click an empty space in the folder.
