I got the same impression from the review.
It's neat... but really not necessary.

VoodooShield is a whitelisting anti-exe software. It's pretty user-friendly that allows only those programs you want to run, while also automatically protecting vulnerable Windows processes. It uses ML/Ai and a reputation-based lookup called WhitelistCloud. There's not really much of learning curve unless you want to tweak some of its settings. Basically, if something tries to execute that you aren't trying to run then you allow VS to block it. If it's something you want to run and VS blocks it or one of its processes than you allow. There's a simple user manual at the website and there is a forum for VS at Update - VoodooShield 7.0

Thanks for your info. So I assume you have or do use it then? And if so you must like it. I may just give it a try. My main concern was it was going to freeze my entire PC into Lockdown mode and then Id be screwed some how.

Hi folks

Just the name of this thing would make me suspicious -- even if it's 100% above board.

Some of these "Branding" people in companies, big or small should really work out their genuine business USP, the market they are in, and do proper Brand evaluations.

For instance - ATOM Bank -- who wants a Bank to be associated with an Atom Bomb -- hope your finances don't all disappear in it. Quashkai == > S.Korean car that in typical English is pronounced as "Cash Cow" or at least it is here . Any A/V system with name Voodo in any part of it doesn't sound too good either.

Might be doing the product a mis-service but there you are.

Cheers
jimbo

Yes, I've used it for years. The concept is to lock your system when using intenet-facing apps but it won't make it unuseable, and you can easily adjust its level of protection. My advice is: read the user manual on the website and decide if you want to use the trial version to see for yourself whether it suits you.

And no @jimbo45 nothing to be suspicious about. It's legitimate software. I find the name quite ingenious - because it's magic! ;-)

Nothing you can't do with WD - plenty of options in the firewall to block individual apps from the Internet etc. In any case if you ARE blocking apps from the Internet one has to question what those apps are -- usually those things are blocked to prevent legitimate activation of content or other pirating things. Sometimes though you do have the odd legitimate concern if a particular app (you've paid for) does an "automatic update" which causes it to stop working then OK but in years of computing I've found very few reasons to block Internet - and if I need to I just disconnect the computers LAN cable.

In any case now most decent apps have an option which allows you to enable or disable automatic updates.

I can't think of anything these days that WD can't do where other systems work better - even paid for ones.

On Corporate LAN's there's other considerations, but on Home computers--hacking and Viruses are so last century and passe. Obtrusive advertising, Scamming and Fraud are much more of a problem. Really good A.I is needed to get a grip on that (apart from Human brain and common sense) and we are quite a way off that yet.

However every user to their own choice It's YOUR system not mine !!!-- "You can lead a horse to water --but you can't make it drink".

VS isn't a firewall and doesn't block internet connections. OP asked about VoodooShield about which you apparently know nothing.

Hi there
OP mentioned it wanted to block Internet.

Question was answered in how to block Internet and apps from accessing the Internet which seemed to be the OP's main concern.

No point in just getting rabbitty because people disagree -- if there was only 1 correct answer to problems why would planet Earth be in such a sorry state.

Bit of politeness and respect -- probably another item long since disappearing into the annals of history. I'm sure I've messed about with more of these systems than people have had hot dinners.

So that's it just go and hide somewhere until you can make civil replies even to people with whom you might violently disagree with.

Seems to be all the new members with minimal posts and no reputational points cause the most hassle these days.

Cheers
jimbo

It's not a matter of disagreement. Here's the OP.
So what does the OP want -- just a simple YES or NO - which doesn't give any info at all. Going down the thread the question of Internet access came up - and that's the issue being addressed.

Anyway I'm not getting involved in this any more.

Cheers
jimbo
