Hi folks
Weird error now

Cannot download from any websites currently

get all sorts of error messages like this when using firefox.:

Screenshot 2021-10-24 102151.png
When using Edge the download bombs out half way through with "Download failed -- Network error".

Unless I find a solution this build is back to the bin !!!!.

Cheers

That's for Edge I think -- BTW I've totally (while testing) disabled Windows Defender.

I'll give it a go though.

I ran into a similar problem recently with both Edge and Opera -- but it's slightly different because they NOW, refuse to save certain downloads. This has been really frustrating because I use Edge to download the Windows Update files from this forum and only recently had them refused.

I have worked around this by changing the download options to always prompt me -- and this gives the the option to force the files being saved.

I know it's not the same issue, but maybe something is afoot in these browsers that they are forcing new security rules onto us.

Hi folks
Fixed the problem -- just used Macrium 8 to take an image of a working W11 Virtual Machine (from within the Virtual machine), then restored to the laptop where I had the problem, used "Fix Windows boot problems" and the "deploy image to new hardware" and all working fine now. I couldn't be bothered with doing the whole update thing from W10 again.

If you don't have the paid version of Macrium (and it works on V7 too) simply do the Fix boot problems -- then boot the machine and go down all the "unknown device" or other hardware flagged in device manager -->update driver-->scan this pc and point to a previous Macrium image (W10 will do) and choose directory windows->system32->DRIVERSTORE and check the "include sub directories"

Easy way for anybody running VM's to to V2P or Virtual to Physical conversions.

I'd recommend though the paid version of Macrium V8 for anybody messing around with VM's - also good for P2V or converting Physical machine to a Virtual machine as well -- that one's easy - just restore to a VM defined with just blank Virtual disks and do the "fix boot problems" and you are done !!

Anyway problem (thankfully) solved.

Cheers
jimbo
